Speedball 2 was a classic (never really thought much of Chaos Engine)

Unless it's more or less a straight port with no 3D mucking about, it's going to be horrible.

Now, a straight port with LIVE multiplayer on XBLA would make me cream my lilly-white knickers, but remaking these - no......nooooooo!

I dont think people could handle the Bitmaps shinyness combined with the extra sheen you get on a nexgen title.

Rock would look like it was made of chrome.

Same here actually. They diluted it with the ramps and stars, which with the 8 degree passing I just found frustrating.

Six years late, but Chaos Engine!

I'd happily - nay, merrily - murder each and every one of you for a Vita version with online co-op. Couldn't believe people were dissing Chaos Engine on the first page of this thread, I'm going to presume they never had the chance to play it with friends/siblings.

Holy shitsnacks! Goosebumps from that trailer. Chaos Engine on the Amiga was fucking immense. Vita, Co-op, decent price, instabuy.

The trailer is a load of nothing, artwork dating back to the 90s and the original game mapped onto a surface with some filter on top.

It's difficult to summon much excitement when they've absolutely nothing to show after all these years, disappointment or scam, take your pick.

Loved it on the Amiga. But will not get excited until I see some gameplay vidoes (that look awesome). =)

Saw this this weekend at Rezzed. It appears to be a pixel perfect PC conversion of the AGA Amiga version. Didn't see anything different or new about it. So... I guess that's cool.

As long as the music is untouched I'm all for it, as it's the music that really stuck in my head. Gameplay is great too :)

Yeah, totally agree on the music, right from the opening credits 'alarm' type sound kicking in :D. If I'm not mistaken it was the work of the sadly late, great game composer Richard Joseph.

Yep! Loved a bit of co-op Chaos Engine when I was a young'un! I remember I quite often used to like playing Mercenary and my mate would play Navvie :). NODE ACTIVATED!

Chaos Engine is out now, for those that missed it on the front page. Pretty much a direct port with online multiplayer added for 7, which I'd be happy with if I actually knew anyone else that was interested.

For a port of an ancient Amiga game, I'd expect to pay a hell of a lot less than 7 to be honest. If it was actually a new game with updated visuals and gameplay then I could understand it, but I just don't understand the point of this existing. It doesn't even have proper analogue controls, which is something I'd pretty much expect from this type of game in 2013.

Then again, I never really got the love some people have for Chaos Engine. I didn't even think it was very good when it first came out, and these days there's hardly a lack of twin-stick shooters. It always struck me as something that gained a following simply by virtue of being made by the Bitmap Brothers rather than in its own right.

I like it because it's fun and the music is awesome. That's probably why it got a following :) It might not be super complicated, but it was (and still is) a solid shooter with interesting characters with varied abilities.
