Speedball 2 and Chaos Engine were the only two Bitmaps games I ever remember liking. :-)

I LOVED Gods and to an extent Magic Pockets.

I'd forgotten about Gods. You can add that to my list too.

    Ice cream! SB2 ftuw!!

Gods was cool as was Exodus. Magic pockets was really annoying, but only because they used to play it on some Saturday morning kids program. CE was ok, but got very bored of it.

Updates of classic future sports title Speedball 2 and overhead scrolling shoot-em-up Chaos Engine will be released.... The wording of Frogster's press release implies that the Bitmaps will not be directly involved in the new titles
    :(

    No no no...

Speedball 2 was a classic (never really thought much of Chaos Engine)

Unless it's more or less a straight port with no 3D mucking about, it's going to be horrible.

Now, a straight port with LIVE multiplayer on XBLA would make me cream my lilly-white knickers, but remaking these - no......nooooooo!

I think you can probably do both Peej, release the original over XBLA and then redo it properly for a retail release.

Although of course the original is the only one we'll want to play. Perhaps they can release a really uncomfortable controller so we can recreate the old bruises on the thumb feeling.

I might be imagining it but wasn't there already a re-tread of Speedball done in 3D, and called something slightly different to avoid the lawsuits? Old PC game?

    It sucked arse.

Really needs to retain the old top down look/feel...maybe hep it up with some nifty ball physics or something just to give the 3D devs something to work on but I would dearly love a multiplayer LIVE version with LIVE leagues. That would be bloody incredible.

Chaos Engine was great...although it seemed to be pretty bastard hard in places (maybe we just sucked).

Speedball 2 was excellent, but I always had more fun on the (inferior) Brutal Sport Football. Strange but true.

How standard are PC USB controllers? Is there any chance that one of these might work?

I see no-one has mentioned Cadaver yet, so... Cadaver OMG! For the PSP please. Or the GBA maybe?

I'll see your Comp Pro and raise you one of these. That was the bestest controller I've ever owned :)

See now I was going to suggest a Quickshot (which in truth I'd always prefered) but thought you'd all laugh at me :)_

Look here. I loved that game too. But you can't go around saying stuff like this. Play it again some time and you'll realise how annoying and shitty the game design was. What Cadaver needs is a redesign, rather than a re-release or a remake.

Nah, I replayed the game about a year ago and had a lot of fun with it. They'd just have to make it portable. By the way, I'm still waiting for someone to port Pirates to the GBA.

Sure, fun. I'm not saying it's not fun, because it is. I just think the gameplay needs updating. I could never get through it without a walkthrough. And I never had a walkthrough for level 2. I tried to complete level 2 once, on an amiga emulator, for days and days. I love how the game played, but they made it way too hard.

Oh yes, it was very hard. But in my opinion they shouldn't try to fix what isn't broken. Old games will probably only appeal to people who've already played them back then anyway, and retro gamers are moaning bastards when it comes to gameplay adjustments.

Solstice though, well, that game desperately needs shadows (I've seen a speed run recently. How the hell did people play that game?)

Z! Aside from C&C and Homeworld it's the only RTS I've ever loved.

Alen Breed was better than The Chaos Engine. It looked nice, but that was all.

Gods & Speedball - yes please.

Cadaver was great, but too cruel and slow and 16bit.

Agreed, Chaos Engine was a bit crap, Alien Breed was much better.

OK, note to anyone reading... DON'T CHANGE SPEEDBALL 2. It doesn't need it. Add extra modes of play if you want (Like a game mode that lasts more than two seasons) bit leave all of the old stuff in it, including the manager mode.
