He has form for pushing, did it to Cummins too.

Such a bitch move to push someone in the face. Wait until you're in the cage instead of catching him off guard.

The only time it's acceptable is if you're going to kiss them *cough coough* Silva *cough*

    Sorry, summer flu.

I dunno, Jones did the whole ALPHA101 thing of pressing his forehead into his face. He was provoked. Just as Cummins endlessly needled him before their fight. It shows he probably needs to grow a thicker skin, that's for sure.

But theres a fierce rivalry and they always get right in each others faces when its heated. Why bother risking injury when your knee is already an issue or at least not 100% and risking a sanction for acting up?

It was spectacularly dumb of both of them for me. Neither thinking straight or being professional.

Spotted McGregor grinning away and snapping selfies with fans right in the middle of it all :-P

It is highly unprofessional and very bad sportsmanship but, it's gonna make the UFC a shit-ton of money. MMA still doesn't have the cleanest public image despite its saftey and all other aspects that make sure it isn't 'human cock fighting' and this episode won't improve that.

Has anyone else noticed that for some strange reason, when two dudes are scheduled to fight and then they fight, everyone goes nuts. Granted it isn't on the scheduled date but it's kinda strange huh?

Yup, the UFC are hating (loving) all of those YouTube hits, huh?

Plus, Jones gets a cut on PPV revenue. I wouldn't mind betting that the extra hype will earn him enough to cover any fine anyway, if not a little profit.

A little profit? I would bet they will barely make a difference to the amount of money that Jones will be paid come fight night, win or lose.

The audience will now be bigger, Jones's cut will subsequently now be bigger too.

And his ego will, as always, get bigger. ;) What other fights are on that card? Anything of note or is it all just filler like most fight cards nowadays?

178 has Cruz's comeback... Poirier vs McGregor will be a good fight, Kennedy/Romero too.

I am eager to see how Cruz will be in his return. 2 and a half years off through injury is gonna generate a huge amount of ring rust.

McGregor vs Poirier. Just can't wait. I love both of these guys and this fight is guaranteed to be exciting. I can't see McGregor losing but it's gonna be excellent, regardless of the result.

Not a big fan of Kennedy if I'm honest. Only really seen his UFC performances and he hasn't impressed.

Yoel Romero on the other hand is something else. I want him to come at Kennedy like a bulldozer and demolish him. it is Yoel Romero I'm thinking of isn't it? The Olympic medalist who has a long winning streak now? The Soldier of God?

    Cormier's 'trash talking' is laughable.

Enjoyed Metamoris, man, you do not want Barnett cranking on your neck, great finish. To do it in a pair Speedos borrowed from a 13 year old too, wow.
First time Lister has been submitted in something like 16 years too which is crazy.

Not sure what Sonnen's plan was really, just sat in full guard trying to smother and frustrate Galvao. Not sure how he ever thought he was going to get the finish there and that's a position he's been caught in several times too. Ho hum.

Is anyone actually looking forward to the OSP vs Bader fight? I mean, I'm not hyped up about but it seems like everyone is really hating on this fight. Could be a great fight I think.

    No ultraviolence until January.

Jones managed to eye poke his own leg or something, the Cormier fight is off :(

On the bright side Demetrius Johnson vs Chris Cariaso is now the main event!!

    MASSIVE PPV win, ugh.

UFC 178 just went from having one of the highest buyrates in UFC history to one of the lowest.

The Jones fight is off? That's irritating. i was looking forward to that. I don't mind watching Mighty Mouse fight it's just never competetive. He always seems to dominate and it makes the fight slightly boring. I appreciate his ability and skill but when that's all you see it gets dull. Hopefully Cariaso can bring something new to the table make make this less one sided than it always is with DJ.

I do struggle with the sub 145 weights. Tremendous amounts of skill and athleticism, but, ultimately an unsatisfactory level of dancing around and potter patting punches. Cruz is the worst/best at this for me.
And yet I'll watch Invicta and women's MMA... those weights fit them well, I'm a bit conflicted about why.

Apparently, re: Jones, it was Overeem. Injured him whilst they wrestled together. Maybe Jones's little matchstick legs ought to be beefed up if he ever moves up to heavyweight.

    Hollah. Back from me holidays.

Just caught up on Metamoris 4. That sub Barnett caught Lister in was nasty. There's a Judo Chop piece on Bloody Elbow that talks about how it's a rib-crusher/diaphragm collapser.

Shame about Jones/Cormier being postponed, but by golly Gustafsson has been screwed.

Did you have a nice holiday?

It's up to Gustaffson to take a fight now, rather than sit back and bitch about it.

The UFC are trying to line Gus up in a fight against Anthony Johnson.
I do think he's been a bit shafted, but he probably needs to suck it up and play the company man at this point.

    I agree.

I mean, at the end of the day, Gus lost to Jones. If he sits there and bitches about a rematch without taking a fight, he's just a whiner.
