Wham! Jones should be worried should he beat Glover.

definitely - it was obvious that Gus was so afraid of Manuwas power though.

Cro Cop is fighting Remy Bonjasky pretty soon for anybody who cares. Pretty good fight weekend.

@craigy definitely. It wasn't like Manuwa didn't hit him with anything, he landed some heavy shots but Gus just didn't seem to give a fuck. I thought he had him in the first when he was trying to get that crucifix in.

That was rubbish too, but at least someone actually hit someone.

Watching this with a doctor gives you some nice extra commentary.

Huh? How have you guys seen this fight already? Is C5 playing this on a delay?

It would seem so. Confused me and sadly as I was checking Jimi's stats out on wiki before the fighting, I saw the result. :(

Guess it was delayed by about 20min or so. Boo.

Gah. Seems so. They're advertising it as Live, must be an oversight

Decent enough in the end. Predictable enough though too.
It was actually quite bizarre watching it on a TV after so many years of seeking out obscure stuff on the laptop. Commentary team was great considering that was their debut, I did feel that it missed some of the fine detail Jitz stuff Rogan brings though.

Glad Manuwa lost. He's a grade A c*nt and don't believe the hype about him being another "ex drug dealer", there's nothing "ex" about it. He's whole crew (bar one dude) are cunts thugs who start fights, and he's one of them (saw him punch a 17 year old in a massive breakout fight his boys started). I'm not even gonna mention the other stuff.

And beyond his left hook and knees, he's an extremely limited fighter. The UFC have stitched him up proper now, as all he'll get are top 10-12 fighters, most if not all will expose him. That division is stacked with talent, chances are he'll have to fight gatekeepers like Rashad or even Glover (if he loses).

The limited reading I did of him online portrays him as a total dick.

The Swedish bloke... looks like he just rocks up after staggering out of an IKEA meatball buffet. Good fighter though. Must be to be second in the world.

He is an absolute prick who also beats girls (his ex in public). He's despicable.

Gunner Nelson is a boss. He will be a contender. A bjj wizard (got his backbelt in 4 years) and also a world karate champion. He's got ice in his veins.

@Razz ah sorry, after the card finished on FightPass I switched over to channel 5 and they were only just doing the entrances! Looks like they were about 20 minutes behind. Hope I didn't spoil it!

Gunny is just awesome. Top ten fighter next for him. I'm thinking Ellenberger?

    Nelson looked great.
Time was (when I was mid-Shotokan) virtually the entire internet was dismissing Karate as a valid stand up style.
A good chunk of it is not only effective, it's about the only recognisable striking style- with a nod to Muay Thai- still standing against the bland homogenisation of that bit of MMA.

@mcmothercruncher I've got a black belt in Shotokan karate so it's lovely to see a practitioner other than Machida find success with the style. I think the side-on stance confuses most people. The only downside is that karateka tend to throw few strikes, which is where they can come unstuck. I think Daron Cruickshank has a karate background too.

It's an ever so slightly left field base, and, weirdly, people, do still seem to struggle to train for it in camp. I'd have thought it would have been brought more into the general training fold by now.

In other news: Gustafsson apparently trying out for the 2016 Olympic gymnastics if this MMA business doesn't work out.

One everyone does Muay Thai (which has its own flaws) a pattern always happens; everyone does said style, everyone becomes predictable, someone with different style thus becomes "unorthodox" and completely becomes difficult for them to read and strategize again. People try to imitate "new" style.

I'm a brown-belt in Kyokushin and Mugendo, mixed heavily with an elusive boxing style of movements and angles. Gives a great advantage when competing in kickboxing.

True dat. Although Karate does seem to be harder to bring into the fold than most.

A big part off misses the distinct style versus style era of the 90's...

So Jones has already tweeted that he thinks a number one contender fight between Gus and DC should happen before either of them get a crack at the belt. He's ducking one of them, but I can't figure out which...

    Both :)
He's never been that sort of "I'll fight anyone" guy, always needs to shape things to his advantage if possible.

Well, both just had an easy fight - it makes sense for everyone but the UFC. They should just have fought each other yesterday. It's better to have 2 title contenders than one though.
