It reminds me of the series with Matt Mitrione -- they portrayed him as a real cry-baby because he had a neck injury, but he said that a lot of it is bullshit editing. What was that bit in Hooters about? Everyone is having fun times: Uriah sits there with his back to the gang. Editing or not, I think he's a little loopy.

Diaz no-showed the open workouts. If he doesn't turn up to the press conference today I expect Dana White will pull him from the fight and let Hendricks fight GSP. Diaz is a first-class nutbar.

    I love it!

Dana White & co must be terrified at the thought of him winning the belt.

Haha, it would be insane. Dana was quoted as saying if Diaz does win they're going to rewrite his contract stipulating any no-shows mean immediate stripping of his belt. Craziness.

The thing is, I think Nick is crazy enough to no-show for a title defence, purely because he will have already proved he's the top dog.

He's putting the UFC in an impossible position which I personally applaud.

He's way too interesting and exciting to not have around as he drives PPV's, but he can't be manipulated like the other stars. He's exactly the sort of character they need to keep them honest.

I wouldn't say he's interesting, but he makes for compelling viewing in a car-crash type way. I'm putting a bet on GSP finishing him.

I think it would be easy to make him show, just by suggesting that he's too scared to face [insert opponet's name here] in the OCTaGOOoooN! He has pride as a fighter, that much is sure.

More chance of GSP finishing his pre fight snack than of him finishing Diaz. Should check the odds on him laying on top of him for 5 rounds and barely advancing out of guard to avoid being swept whilst doing just enough not to get stood up :D

Diaz is gonna get busted up on the feet, then taken down and pounded out after his eyes swell closed. He's prone to taking huge amounts of damage -- look how effed up his face was after three rounds with BJ Penn. Five rounds against GSP and he'll look even worse.

I'm a massive GSP fanboy. Can you tell?

Its ok im the same with Anderson Silva :D

I used to love gsp, but since getting finished by Matt Serra has has changed and goes for efficiency rather than flair.

According to Dana and GSPs former manager, GSP wants to maul Diaz because he sees Diaz as a bully; the kind that bullies weaker people in school and would likely pick on him.
Apparently GSP really started to dislike him when Diaz kept following him around a hotel looking to pick a fight with GSP and kept goading him for no reason.

It's why I don't get Diaz' "woe is me" victimization shtick, especially when he tried to portray it on the radio, making it seem like he just wants to be respected and doesn't understand why GSP kept attacking him and calling him uneducated. He seems completely oblivious to the fact that he started this.

Also, according to his former manager, GSP has 3 "closing chapters" for his career; to maul Diaz, to beat down Hendricks (finds him disrespectful too) and to also retire by fighting, and beating Silva.

That press conference was frustrating to watch. Diaz is a head case. It's more than about promoting the fight: I think he has genuine mental issues. Persecution complex, paranoia, or something.

Felt bad for Condit, Ellenberger and Marquardt -- none of them were asked a single question! Dana White seemed pissed off, even bemoaning Ariel Helwani's line of questioning.

    Also, wtf are "wolf tickets"?

Wolf ticket (or woof ticket) is an African-American slang term meaning a verbal threat, criticism, or insult used to intimidate an opponent. The term originates from woofing, meaning aimless talk, an onomatopoeic reference to the sound of dogs barking. The term is usually used as a part of the phrase "to sell wolf tickets", meaning to bluff or threaten someone in a boastful way, or "to buy wolf tickets", meaning to call the bluff or accept the implied challenge.

GSP heads into this fight under an enormous amount of pressure IMO. If he plays his safe game then he'll be criticised by the fans and press for not finishing yet another opponent. He'll also add fuel to Diaz's rant about wrestlers taking the art out of martial arts.

He looked thoroughly unhappy in the press conference too.

Yep, huge, huge pressure. To be fair I agree to some extent with what Diaz says about top-control wrestling being a stalling tactic, especially when people just look to stay in someone's guard or side-control without looking to do real damage or finish the fight.

Yeah that really pisses me off.
True submission wrestling is an absolute bitch. No "tapping out" nonsense, just the sheer fight to, literally, bend someone to your will.

This whole control for control-sake is just pissing me off.

Can't wait for the event tomorrow. WW is my favorite division. It's so stacked. If it wasn't for GSP, im sure the division would switch champion almost as often as the HW division. Why haven't Kampmann got a fight yet though? I hope he's working on some head movement.

I have a feeling the main event is going to be a huge disappointment, the Condit/Hendricks on the other hand could be a classic. Both fighters are at the top of there game and can both bang.

I think Crocop won, but I don't know as I just got home after watching the early fights.
