Hurrah! I'm pleased. And the missus will be pleased too - she never played the original, but she loved to watch me play it. :-)

Erm... well, admittedly I still haven't finished the first one (just beaten Ursula on the Atlantica level), but I'm a bit non-plussed about the game to be honest. The story is pretty flimsy, the combat is just one-button-mashing, the platforming elements suck and only the intro (and presumably the ending?) has had any kind of lush FMV for me to go "wow" over.

It just doesn't compare to Zelda as an action-RPG-lite sort of game and certainly doesn't match Final Fantasy for depth of gameplay, story, characters, visuals, and ultimately, fun.

Unless the reviews say they've drastically improved on the formula (oddly enough, I don't hate it for the Disney influence), I think I might just give it a miss. :(

    Ta! :)

Nah, just that I've got a cold coming on, my throat is sore and I've had a really very busy day at work getting told to redo the same report 4 times by a director who didn't like the "style" I'd written it in, despite admitting that what I'd done was 100% clear, correct and accurate.

    /flicks 'V' sign at wall/

    Bah!

Still, the Missus is going to a Virgin VIE party tonight, so I should be able get some quality gaming time in. :)

Like an Ann Summers party but with make-up instead of sex toys and lingerie. Virgin VIE is Richard Branson's cosmetics company and they send a sales rep round to a house full of women so they can all try on the stuff and then spend all of their other half's money on 8 lipsticks of varying shades of red.

I expect to be significantly poorer when she returns, but it's worth it for the peace and quiet! :)

Edit: sorry - might have got confused over whether you were talking to me or Hyoushi! :/

Be very afraid. Mine only spent 40 and some of that was on a birthday gift for one of her mates, so I definitely came off lightly.

She did tell me that she considered buying me some men's shower gel at about 9.50 a throw. Bloody glad she didn't though - 9.50!!!???? FFS, that's ridiculous for shower gel!

    Interesting news from IGN.

Apparently the GBA KH game will be a direct sequel to the original Kingdom Hearts, taking place directly after that game. KH2, on the other hand, will be set several years later.

Bit of an odd way to go about things, but there you go!

Loved the first game (still haven't finished it though) and to tbh it's one of the very few games on my wish list for the PS2.

Just thought I'd resurrect this thread to say I've now got about halfway through the final "End of the World" level and this game has leapt up massively in my estimation.

For some reason they saved the best levels till last (Nightmare Town and the awesome Hollow Bastion in particular) and crammed near enough the whole story development into the penultimate world. Vintage Squaresoft stuff that really brought a grin to my face!

The combat is still button mashing, jumping's a chore and the camera's a pain, but the presentation of these later bits somehow makes up for it!

I also feel a bit perplexed as to why they put two of the weakest levels (Alice and Tarzan - I simply hated the swinging vines bit and the waterfall jumpy bit) right at the beginning of the Disney part of the game.

Still, the battle with Sephiroth (even though I got my arse utterly kicked) was just the way it should be! :D

Looking forward to a great ending sequence (I hope!)

    /blows cobwebs off thread

Bejesus, has it really been that long since they announced KH2? o_O

Anyway - look! Kingdom Hearts 2 does Tron! Tron, ffs! \o/

And there are some pictures of Cid and Yuffie too.

I wonder if this game will ever actually make it onto the shelves?

My girlfriend has been waiting keenly for this game. She's on her 3rd play through of KH at the moment, which when you consider that she isn't much of a gamer and never completes games is bloody amazing.

But really, what the heck are they doing with this game?

My missus loved KH too. KH2 is the only game she ever asks me about.

"Is it out yet? When's it done? What are they doing, ffs?"

Seeing as it's out in a month and a half in Japan, it'll be here a bit sooner than a certain other Squenix RPG, so quit complaining.

Given Squenix Europe's apparent total ineptitude, I won't be holding my breath just yet.

I've seen loads of complaints about there being a Tron world, but the exact opposite with Pirates of the Caribbean!

Possibly because Tron predates the vast majority of people who played KH...

Tron world is a brilliant idea! PotC world less so, because it's basically 'Earth'. With normal(ish) people.

Was that second link supposed to be to something else? And this basically seals KH2 as a 'must buy'.

Second link should be right now.

Here's hoping they scrap Sephiroth as an optional boss and replace him with the far superior Kefka and/or Kuja!
