I don't mean to put a damper on things but reading the last few posts is exactly why I couldn't stand X-Men after Morrison and Whedon anymore.

It sounds like typical soap opera x-men bullshit. :|

Just going to put this out there:

If any of you want to write anything about any of the comics you love - why you love them, a review of a specific comic etc., a story involving characters that you yourself have written, comic art that you have drawn: whatever - I'd love to put them on my blog.

If you don't want to, you don't have to obv. That's it.

    Laters.

Hmm. If I can get my idle brain to do something like that i'll send it in.

Excellent blog design btw. I am in general a disliker of blogs. Yours seems to be rather cool.

    Bump

After discovering Planetary, I also got into The Authority. Any other good Wildstorm comics I should read?

Technically, most of the stuff on Americas best and astro city. All the rest of the superhero stuff is absolutely garbage. Even Alan Moores run on wildcats was pretty crappy

I had no idea Wildstorm were still about. I have about 20 comics to get next week. Stupid Marvel relaunches.

It's not. It was folded a few years ago, with storm watch and a few select characters being forced into dc continuity in the new 52 fiasco.

Do comics take 10 years to get to Denmark?

:) it just takes me a while to realise there are other stories to read aside from Batman. Ask Spanky.
  • Deleted user 15 November 2012 14:39:18
I was going to say, did someone trick you into thinking Batman was in 100 Bullets?

I now need to own all 100 individual issues. Oh, and Goyer's making a TV series out of it.

As an aside, Batman is seriously good right now. Best in years. Capullo's art is excellent and Snyder gets the mood spot on.

    There we go.

I'd finish 100 Bullets before you decide to buy the whole thing. I was a bit over it by the end.

While this is bumped, I re-read kingdom come after morriss mentioned it and, I have to say, im not hugely keen on it. I was absolutely blown away by it when I was a teenager, it seemed like a perfect requiem to the early 90s super-shit, but reading it now, the story really isnít that great, the logic for most of the main characters is absolutely warped and the spectre stuff is absolutely pointless.

Obviously, the artwork is second to none, but I really wish I hadnít dug it out again.

I like it. The final comic is where it's at. Pretty epic stuff.

The standalone plots are more interesting than the major plot arc, yes.

As big battles go, it was pretty good but the focal point of superman vs shazam was the real WOW moment of the whole series. I think, as a non-DC reader, I totally didnít get the importance of shazam and how powerful he was, which weakened the luthor plot somewhat. He always seemed like another square jawed gimp, but when he was just raining SHAZAM down on superman was, indeed, epic shit.

Just finished the Counterfifth Detective. As good as Chandler. Amazing. But yeah, I'm now on #45 and it's fluctuating a bit.

    Still better than most

    Next up: Sandman. :)

Again, it kind of lost its way with this third volume but the first two were great.

The first volume is one of my favourite runs of anything.

Definitely ignore the third volume yeah, but the first two are superb. First one in particular is indeed special.

And by volume, I don't mean collection. The first two volumes make up like 12 TPBs or something, so there's plenty to read.

it is ongoing but sporadic. You'll be glad youre coming to it late, put it that way.

I cant remember the last time an issue came out.

    So, All New X-Men #1...

Scott's gone a little strange. And the last panel cracks me up.

    not a force for good

They finished the Z arc earlier this year, and I think that'll be it now.
