Replaying it just now on Hard now, and without f______ game ruining "tips". I am so sad I had those "tips" turned on the first time I played MP, it really spoiled the experience for me.

I am still thinking that Retro didn't really get the exploration bits.

    Can't get past Ridley, though.

    Edit: I, I, I

Maybe a bit throwaway in my use of the word 'revolutionary', I'll admit. But the controls (let alone the game) have their own learning curve. It's not as simple as learning them then playing the game - the controls themselves have subtleties. I can blitz through most areas in Prime now thanks to the flexibility of the controls.
The controls suit you then. ;)

Have you started a job in marketing recently PL? The above reads like a MP press pack. 'The controls themselves have subtelties' ?? As any good game does in fact.

I think this is almost certainly love at first sight for you. :D

It's zelda game design with a first person cam and a sci fi context. No wonder he loves it.

I only ever played the first few hours of Prime, just found the size of it quite overwhelming :) Your post has made me feel like going back and getting back into it though.

Metroid Prime was fucking amazing. I hated it at first, being such a big fan of Super Metroid, but once I got into it it was great. Not that hard though in my opinion, but it does provide a good challenge, expecially with the tips turned off.

Incredible game, for some reason, everyone goes on about how difficult Meta-Ridley was but I fond the last baddie far trickier.

MP2 is def worth getting, not quite as impressive as MP but still a stunning game, I'm struggling a bit with the 10 keys though....

    What !!

Both Meta-Ridley and Metroid Prime were easy. That Omega Pirate dude gave me the most trouble. The ending is sweet, though - very nostalgic. :)

Thank heavens. I'm not the only one who thought that. I remember talking to my riends about how hard the final boss was. Then, years later, I watched a very impressive speed run of it. When the guy killed Ridley in about 2 nano seconds I felt like an idiot.

Nothing compared to how dumb I felt when there was another level and yet another boss.

If you can read this you really need to fiddle with your forum settings.

    Haha! :-D

I'm just saying that I liked the different approach they took. Steadfastly refusing to use dual-analogue controls, they simultaneously disproved all the naysayers (even the ones who still think they're right) and came up with a system that, if you ask me, is second to none.

Aw who'm I kidding, I'm just a fanboy at heart.

Best game on the cube, and possibly over the whole generation for me. Even flying lizard chops couldn't ruin it (although he tried).

I was a bit disappointed by the fact that the last boss came straight after Meta-Ridley. I was expecting at least another short section of platforming and puzzle solving before I came across the final boss - also a bit more background story about how he came to be there. And who the hell was the worm that was being talked about in the literature?

Seriously, I was expecting (hoping) to face off against a giant worm before Metroid Prime. It didn't occur to me that they might the same thing...

I picked up both Metroid Pime Games for 10. I did them both.

    Metroid Prime: 2 Days

Metroid Prime 2 Echoes: 2.5 Days

I found them a little boring, and way too easy

I completed this games aaagees ago. Brilliant game no doubt, but is the second one worth getting? This has got me thinking, might buy the second one this weekend.

And am quite proud of completing it, the final boss was seriously hard. Plus why the hell did I wake up so early?

I bought Echoes on launch, but to be honest, I got a little bored of it after a while and never went back to it. Largely because there was shit loads of exploration and more ground to cover than in the first game, and I also found it a fair bit more difficult. It's very similar to the first one, so if it's more on the same you want, it will deliver.

On a note about bosses, I thought the Metroid Prime was most difficult, followed by Omega Pirate. Meta-Ridley wasn't too bad at all. Overall though, the difficulty was perfectly balanced.

Metroid Prime was quite an easy game, aside from a couple of the bosses. I think that's why I had such problems with Meta-Ridley - it was a huge leap in difficulty over the standard enemies at that point.

Freaxgamer, if you havn't already played it on dreamcast, I would recommend picking up a copy of Ikaruga on GC. Its the most bastard hard game i've ever played in my life.

I've not played MP2, either. I've played every other Metroid game though.

To all those who thought MP was easy - did you play with the tips turned on?
