There is a handful of films I like to own, because they are ones I'd watch again and again but we're in single figures here. Actually owning a film for me is pretty pointless.

Music I listen to again and again and everywhere I go. I have a love/hate thing with spotify, and I currently love it as I can stream it through my Sonoses. If I go out of the house, however, I am cut off from my music collection. Phone app doesn't quite cut it.

So I want to own music, can't give a stuff about films (though I do have shelves and shelves of DVDs but never mind that now)

In my early teens I had a friend who was a film geek. He collected loads of stuff on VHS and I was so envious of his bookshelf full of obscure films.

That's how I see film on physical media, objects on the brink of becoming hopelessly outdated.

Don't get me wrong. I've collected stuff (stares at fez collection) and I understand the joy of beautiful objects and owning a 'set' (stares at complete collection of Lone wolf & Cub (in Swedish and English)).

    But discs?

There will be legal versions of Plex in the future where you will have a virtual collection to look at.

If you can read this you really need to fiddle with your forum settings.

Personally I like owning certain films. Usually harder to find things, but it's nice to be able to grab stuff off the shelf now and then.

At the same time, I like the convenience of streaming. It's nice to have choice, basically. That includes a choice of how you get your content.

Sky Broadband are now blocking it but there are many ways to still access the site.

Dont use it myself rather use private trackers.

I used to be a gamer like you, then I took an arrow in the knee.

I'll admit it, at the moment I'm downloading all my films illegally. I've tried to find legal options but I haven't found anywhere that would let me actually download the films. iTunes does but then they've locked me out of their film service. Streaming doesn't work for me - we just don't have the bandwidth or network reliability for it. And very few services even allow you to login from Africa. Even a UK proxy is against the ToS for Lovefilm etc., so meh.

Oh right, so this is why I can't get on to it any more. I knew it was coming, but thought there'd be a little page explaining it. Like "Sky are blocking the Pirate Bay because of a recent law blah blah" like virgin did. To just give nothing but a blank page had me thinking that TPB had been under a dos attack again or something. Oh well. Still have a demonoid account, but found the top 100 torrents quite handy on TPB. can't find a similar list on demonoid.

Here is a big list of piratebay mirrors. I am on Sky and have only tried the first one but it seems to work fine and they will keep the list updated so it might be worth bookmarking

Hmm, I clicked that the other day and it didn't show me the movies category. Today it's working though showing all categories. Ace, don't know why I stopped using Demonoid really.

Heh the quality of comments on the usual bin search websites has plummeted over the last month or so. CAN'T THINK WHY.

BT has also blocked TPB, however
a representative of the UK Pirate Party has told the BBC that it has circumvented the blocks of nearly all major ISPs.

In face, the rep added that all the increased media coverage of the portal has seen its user traffic rocket.

He added that “about 10 per cent of traffic to its proxy sites now seemed to be coming from BT customers, 30 per cent from Virgin Media customers, 15 per cent via Sky, six per cent via TalkTalk and three per cent via O2”.

    No-one seen this news?

    http://www.culture.gov.uk/news/media_releases/9160.aspx

Site blocking will be repealed as it is unworkable in practice

This is the most popular article on the BBC site right now. There must be a lot of file sharers in the UK.

    Yay! More seeders!

The blocking page has been sketchy for a while, when I accidentally went to the actual site instead of one of the 1000s of workaround addresses. It is the most pointless blocking ever, unless they're gonna try block it properly?

Related, I found the news that traffic was down to piratebay's website fairly amusing. How about you add up all of the traffic to the mirrors and then come back to us?

Kind of off topic, but has something happened to StageVU?
The site loads, but i get no search results. Have the libraries of video files been removed?
