Mock his bowtie and glasses. That'd dismay him.

One bit that was great and made me very angry was the big shootout between the east and westside gangs. Very realistic in the way that no-one involved gets shot, (Only the poor wee kid watching from his window) It makes me angry because of any of those stupid fuckers took time to aim a shot, they might hit something they mean to. Its all that "aim one handed with the gun sideways to look cool" image bullshit. Very silly.

Aaaaand im done. Great series, REALLY gets me foaming at the mouth for the next one as well.
The part you mentioned Fozzie is indeed rather horrible. Its one of those, "I wish I could reach into my telly and move the guy to safety moments."

    another fact about the series

The guy who plays the priest in series 3 is the RL character that avon barksdale was based on. The writer gave him a part after they became friends (bizarrely as he was the one who put him away) when he got out of jail. The fact that he plays a priest I guess points to his redemption.

Alot of the characters & cases are based on rl ones, David simon said that he uses alot of real people from the communities as extras.

Ok so this came through my door on friday, I watched the first three (of Series 1 obviously) and so far its a bit, well, meh really.

So far we have had a bit of scene setting, some character introductions, some pictures of dealers in red hats and an a failed raid on one of the low rises.

Please tell me something actually happens that 'grabs me' and forces me to keep watching or its going straight back to my rental company and getting filed under 'failed experiment'.

I remember watching the first couple and thinking it was a bit meh too. They've tried to cram so many character intros and set up so many storylines in at the start that it seems a bit crowded. Stick with it though... it really picks up.

As a bit of a contrast, Dominic West (McNulty) is playing the lead in the Voysey Inheritance @ the National Theatre at the moment.

    English accent Mode.

(He's great, the play is quite good).

Finished season one it was good but was a tad slow until I built up some love for the characters.

Watched the first episode of season 2 last night seems like it will be heading in a different direction while keeping an interest in our drug runners.

Both season one and two are slow but it's once you get to know the characters that the show really gets good.

Season two does go in a very different direction and at times feels like a completely different show (obviously with the same excellent script writing).

I hear season three is more like the first one. Looking forward to seeing it.

Scripting is amazing on all shows so far. I laughed particularly hard at the haulage guy proclaiming his morning 'wood' as 'a blue veined diamond cutter'. :D

Just finished watching season 1. Absolutly brilliant. The problem with catching a program like this after its done a few seasons is that its so hard to stop watching.

Its like "one more go" only each "go" is about an hour long! :)

Watched the first of season two and its like a completly different show though. Interesting to see how the port story goes.

Words cannot describe how brilliant this show is.

I love The Sopranos and The Shield, but The Wire tops both imo. Can't wait for Season Four.

Anyone else seen this? Despite my losing battle against getting addicted to TV shows, and having heard many good reports and seeing it cheap in the shops, I got series 1, which I watched and loved to bits. Is series 2 up to the same standard? My pointer is hovering over the add to basket button here. Help me decide!

I loved it too. Very real and gritty. I must see the second season !
    Also, try The Shield.

    And thats season 3 watched.

Wow, just wow. So many moments where you're either staring wide at the screen in disbelief, laughing, cringing (I really didnt want to see Lt Daniels arse tbh) and just plain entranced.
The way the episodes are set up, hell, the way the seasons are set up, is that I feel like Ive just finished a 37 hour movie, rather than just watched 37 seperate episodes, which leads to the "just-one-more-episode" syndrome.

The interactions between the characters really make this something special. Hurk and Carver. Bunk and McNulty (the scene in the first series where they were investigating the crime scene of the shot girlfriend of Barksdale had me in stiches - "Fuck" "Motherfuck" ) etc.

    **minor spoiler**
Oh, and did anyone else spot Rawls in the "mens bar" ?

Oh, and Stringer Bell in 2.4 Children as a parachute instructor? :D

Not a bad series at all this - a little slow for my usual tastes, I like a tad more action in my TV series and it doesnt do the cliffhanger thing as well as some of my favourite shows. Still some excellent dialogue.

first ep of the new series is excellent as well, but its annoying when u watched the entire series in one go that u have to wait a week then between episodes.

'My friend' from the US has been very slow posting them to me so far, I hope he hurries up and gets them to me on mondays from now on :p
