I never understood why they called it that. Why the "ham" at the start?

It amazes me as well that a show about Drugs and death can have such funny moments in it, a certain conversation about a dog in season 2 regarding the characters Cheese, Bunk and MCnulty had me in stiches.

I love the "fuck" conversation between McNulty and Bunk in season 1 :)

I remember there was a conversation here about whether or not Omar could jump out of the window and survive it in season 5. And I told somebody that I read somewhere that the inspiration for Omar had done the jump in real life. Well, straight from the mouth of the creator, comes vindication.

It's a HUGE interview, but I'll print out the most interesting shit.
Is it true that Donnie (Andrews, the inspiration for Omar) in real life jumped off a balcony the same height that Omar did?

    Actually, two floors higher.

    Two floors higher?

The Murphy Homes. He also jumped off the rail bridge at Poplar Grove, onto the rail bed. That was probably about three stories. And he hurt his ankle. It's just true. Those jumps, by an athletic person, can actually be made and are made, routinely. By a non-athletic person? if I made it, I'd be all over the pavement and they'd pick me up with a spoon. If you made it, they'd pick you up with a spoon. When 28-year-old Donnie Andrews makes that jump because he has to, sometimes he makes it. It's funny: I'm doing this thing now with recon Marines, "Generation Kill." And some of them had no problem with the jump. They just started telling stories about recon training. I don't know whether to believe them or not, but I do believe Donnie.
Had a weekend away in Sheffield to go and see Othello at The Crucible with Dominic West and Clarke Peters and it was excellent.

Total bargain as well with tickets only costing 12 each, would definitely recommend to any Wire fans.

    Omar's hummin'

A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.

I accidentally watched season 4 last year without realising I'd skipped the 3rd. The entire time, I was wondering why everything was so confusing and new. It never occurred to me to check the fucking box set title until the realisation suddenly smacked me in the head during the finale :/

On the plus side, I'm at the beginning of season 3 and it's teh awesumz.

I watch the wire every year, seen it all the way through about 4 times now. It gets better on every viewing, you pick up little hints and nods which you never saw in previous viewings

I have only ever watched the sopranos once, but I imagine that would be great to re-watch. Its on my list.

Same here. I've watched The Wire at least three or four times but haven't bothered re-watching The Sopranos.

Jimmy is so far from the moral supercop that I'm not entirely sure we watched the same series.

I do agree the final series was total tosh. On my second viewing of the whole thing I actually gave up on the final series it was so ridiculous.

Watching Season 2 at the minute

D'Angelo noooo! My favourite character. Maybe I missed out on something but who would've ordered the hit? Stringer? Avon?
