Nah Tanya spiked his drink with a paralysis drug, she's going to bury him alive in a coffin full of Big Moes sprout farts.

This is unnecessarily depressing shite. I got in from work (yes, today) grabbed the champagne and turned over to comedy channel to avoid this depressive bollocks.

Soaps really are plumbing new depths.

RIP Derek should of kept him in the show for comedy value ;).....how the hell does max get the ladies would of been running away with the exotic dancer he married screw Tanya.

I watch the soaps for the comedy value better than a lot of new age comedy out now.......otherwise it's re runs of old shows I watch.

Max gets the ladies because he is a ginger brother.

Really wanted a reservoir dogs style execution om derek but no. We get a a poxy heary attack. It's a like the writers did not know what to do with derek....

I half expected Derek to put on a top hat and a handlebar moustache then tie Kat to the railway line, all in black and white with piano music playing. Probably one of the least threatening villains in EastEnders history.

Has this show not been like this for 27 years now?

To be fair, I despise soap operas and yet I can't actually say I've seen any (sitting down to watch a full episode) in recent memory. Maybe Eastenders is actually quite joyous most of the time and I only hear about it when it's at its most miserable. And dare I say it, violent.

That has to be the most anticlimatic dispatch of an eastenders villain ever.

Though I suppose the fact a whole group of them didnt do anything to help now means there is going to be some sort of conspiracy of silence.

Eastenders has actually pulled off the seemingly impossible task of making Michael Moon a sympathetic character.

He's still a selfish, arrogant, self-absorbed arseshole of course - and in any argument where Janine is the opposing side it's always going to be hard not to support the other person. But this custody battle thing is pretty good, and hopefully it highlights the plight of fathers in custody battles which can only be a good thing.

One thing Eastenders has always been good at is provoking debate and raising awareness about important issues.

Probably, they leak EVERYTHING these days.

Hell, over on DigitalSpy they give full plot rundowns of every episode a week in advance, with summaries for two weeks after that.

I'm just waiting for the christmas special.

It's so obvious that Alfie and Roxy will split up, and Alfie will get back with Kat. There's some new landlords coming soon in the vic too. Will be interesting to see how much I can take of Danny Dyer.

It's a guilty pleasure, like pickled eggs with tartare sauce or jelly babies with dairy milk.

A housemate got me into it years ago, and I've not been able to stop watching it since :D

Besides, Eastenders on Christmas Day is a proud British tradition!

Dot's still kicking about. The actress is 86 now though, even as great as June Brown is (the woman is a british institution), she must surely be not far off retirement now.

That said, she'll probably outlive the lot of us!
