Registered 8 years agoJust picked up the season 1 box set after catching one episode on the some graveyard slot on bbc2 or something. One of the best American sitcoms i've seen in years. Anyone else a fan of this criminally underated show. No one I speak to seems to have heard of it, despite its Emmy winning goodness. -

Registered 9 years agoI'm a big fan as well, but like a lot of good shows it got the chop after only 3 seasons. I even prefer it to My name is Earl. -

Registered 9 years agoCurrently working my way through the DVDs as well. Totally missed it on TV and agree Funniest Thing Evar.
Was it cancelled then? Bastards. Does it come to some kind of ending or does it just stop?

They knew the end was coming, so it does come to a conclusion. The latter half of what we got of season three is cracking. Didn't rate the British/Charlize episodes particularly, though.

On now. Lost track of this show completely. Thought it was quite good but never something I looked out for particularly.

Registered 9 years agoEr, yeah, american people being in it is as much as you can say about Arrested Development being like Curb. Not that I don't like Curb, but Arrested Development is finely and superbly crafted whereas Curb's entertainingly improvised.

Registered 11 years agoI tried to like AD, but was a little too "look at me, I'm wacky". I'll try to borrow a boxset off a friend before judging as I've only caught about 3 episodes on digital. -
It took me a while to settle in...it's very fast paced.
but once you do, it's very good.... -

And AD is awesome too, love it. Nothing like Curb though.
Shame the 3rd series is getting the absolute graveyard treatment on Beeb 2 at the mo

Registered 10 years agoJust started on Season 1 too. Brilliant, I love it. One of the funniest things I've seen in a while. Whether it will maintain those high standards is another thing entirely....
How many seasons are there? And don't say 4! -

Not, it's too good. It was shaming everything else on US TV so they killed it.

Registered 11 years agoFirst series is good, but it was the odd show from the second series I initially saw that got me hooked. Beautifully detailed and some great running gags. Must pick up the second series. -

Registered 7 years agoThis is my second favourite show of all time, first would be Firefly of course.
I can imagine, though, with the lack of advertising this show gets on the BBC, people will just flick through the channels and see it's on, then be awfully confused because of all the running jokes, it definitely pays to watch it from the start.
It never found a big audience in America which is why it got canceled I guess, they could of at least let them finish with a 22 episode third season.
There's rumours about a movie but I don't see it happening, and really, I don't think it would work that well.

Registered 8 years agoBeen meaning to watch this. The Scrubs guys are all massive fans of it, so I'm interested too. Jason Bateman even guest starred in an episode of Scrubs. -

Registered 7 years agoDoes anyone know what BBC will be replacing this with, starting from next week? Repeats of season 1, 2 and 3, I hope.
It doesn't really matter as I've got all 3 DVD sets but it would be good to try and get a few more people watching the show. -

Registered 9 years agoalso a big fan. Watched the first 2 series on DVD now, completely passed me by when it was on TV. Look forward to grabbing the final (half) series.
Why is it almost every time I get in to a good series these days it gets cancelled by Fox? Between this, Firefly, and Futurama they've really annoyed me over the past few years.

Registered 7 years agoJust managed to watch this over 2 days this week, i love the recurring themes and sayings, as well as the reaction to swearing, in fact, the whole thing has an aspect of sane absurdity, love it.
Think the last episode is a bit tiff though, would rather just have a nice wrapping up and not another scandal. -
