Captain Ramius in The Hunt for Red October was Lithuanian rather than Russian! ;-)

    Everyone knows someone called Dave.

Decent episode if a bit silly at the end, I was half expecting a stone angel when the Doctor was talking about cold spots with a group of statues behind him.

Good in parts, but the usual 'run around' nonsense in others.

I really enjoyed that. Pretty damn gruesome 'monster' though I don't think getting a good look at it at the end helped.

I did enjoy that one. The preview of next weeks did look as if it was Clara to whom he was asking "are you a trap"

Loved that.  Must have been influenced by project zero at the start, was quite creepy.

That monster was pretty nasty though. I do wonder how much they have to try to dial it down for kids.

The main thing that is impressing me this series is just how expensive it all looks. Ok there are some dodgy fx now and again but the lighting, sets and cinematography is fantastic

I loved the idea of the monster and the quick glimpses of it were great, but the story fell into the usual trap of eventually showing too much and then, just to make things even worse, decided to give it a "love interest".

@RobAnybody I quite liked that there was no stereotypical enemy in this one.

I liked that one. Good that they shook the story structure up a bit from the old.

Technically there wasn't a villain at all, just some misjudged circumstances.

    Better than the last episodes.

Preview for next weeks looks cracking.

That "Name of the Doctor" has misdirection written all over it though.

The last two were much improved over the first two, which were both awful. Doctor Who always works best when they're not trying to be grandiose and 'actiony', so tighter stories with more talking and suspense always feel far better to me.

That said... I really wish they wouldn't make the Tardis 'fly'. It never fails to look anything other than completely stupid.

Agree on both counts. I do wish they'd ended it about 5-10 mins before they had though. The monster was quite effective up until they showed more of it and went in with that horrible love angle.

Yeah, it was one of the better episodes in a while but it did shit itself in the last ten minutes thanks to there not being any room for ghosts in dr who, the usual hyooomans are wonderful angle and a general helping of schmaltz.

Good to see dougray scott on telly though.

    He totally called it

Also... since when did the Tardis talk to people? That seemed more than a little odd. If she can chat away at will, why's she not a constant presence in the console room like Voyager's EMH?

    Really enjoyed that.

Is it my imagination or does Clara sometimes phrase things with a scottish accent? She sounded like Amy Pond a couple of times to me.

    /imagines things

Everybody should just calm down a little bit and have a nice cup of tea.

    Clara isn't Amy.

Got a feeling she may actually be the doctor himself. Or a time lord of some kind, but that's the obvious guess that everyone says every time there's a new mysterious character, so probably not that then.

@Blerk at the very least, since the episode about the TARDIS a couple of years ago.

So like almost every doctor who episode ever, then? ;)

Sometimes I wonder why people watch it...

Wow. That was fucking awful, capped off with what is, essentially, 'it was all a dream'.

Would it be racist to say that the three coloured dudes were awful actors...?

Particularly the big tall one who sounded like someone they just dragged off the street and told him what to say.
  • Deleted user 27 April 2013 19:25:37
I was praying they were all robots. It was the only way to explain it.

It's racist to suggest that all black people are homeless, yes.

    Get bent.

    You mean their not?

Next you'll be telling me they aren't all criminals!

It was really interesting set up spoiled by a poor ending and the need to bring chasey chasey monster in for no reason.

Yup, no need for a monster, or a subplot at all in a TARDIS-centric episode, and as a result it was pretty much a complete waste of time.

    Meh.

Glad to hear Nine's voice again.

    Seemed like a foreshadowing episode.
    Clara knowing the Doctors name.
    Encyclopaedia Gallifrey.
    History of the Time War.

Surprised a Dalek didn't pop up and offer Clara some tea.
