It felt like a Christmas special to me.
I gather it was 'more like Bond' because it was in London

Not watched it yet, don't know if I'll bother. Funny, I had low expectations for some reason.

Lots of recycled Moffisms in that episode. Pretty awful really.
I was thinking the same thing - it was full of Moffat's tired old tropes.

The guy really needs to take a break from writing and producing this series, he's obviously completely out of ideas and hasn't a clue how to engage the audience any more.

The "Come back tomorrow" line will be a used as a deus ex machina/get out of jail card.

So seeing as Richard E. Grant came back are we all guessing he's the new Master?

Was that the first episode in a new series tonight? Was pretty shite really but his new companion is bloody gorgeous. I've not watched the last couple of series as my interest started tailing off; the last one I saw was the Pandorica finale. Has it got any better? Despite all the promise, I didn't think Moffat did a better job than Russell thingy.

No one really knows what series it is anymore... it was the second half of series 7 technically but this constant stupid need to split each series is getting a little tiresome now. Just show us 13 back to back episodes and bring in some new writers!

    Not really, no.

I'm worried. I think the (utterly delightful) Ms. Coleman might be trying too hard.

Haha... funny. I actually enjoyed that episode and most here seem to think it was wank. That vs last season which I thought most of was shite and most here seemed to like.

    Ahh well, horses for courses.

Well, yes, on the whole you'd get no argument from me on that one.

Sometimes the dialogue is so bad I expect Marcus from Babylon 5 to turn up.

Was surprised to see the Great Intelligence cropping up again. Looks like we'll be seeing it again as well.

I take it everyone got the Amelia reference?

No, he was clearly named as the Great Intelligence.

You're not the only one, last series was terrible.

For the record, I haven't especially enjoyed a Moffat episode since Flesh and Stone in the first series of Matt Smith's doctor. Chris Chibnall's scoring is odds on in my book, and Mark Gatiss' writing has been generally heading in the right direction these days. Of course the Neil Gaiman episode was entertaining, and we're due another one of those this series, so he has another chance to spoil his form in a few weeks. Before then though we have another couple of Gatiss episodes, one from Stephen Thompson who wrote the abysmal Black Spot episode a couple of years ago, and a couple from the writer of Luther, which I didn't watch, but heard positive things about. We'll find out if he's any good at writing Who next week.

I'm actually reasonably positive for the rest of this season. Could be a reasonable run, with the exception of ep. 326 by the aformentioned Thompson which I'm expecting to be a turd, and of course the series closer, when it's back to Moffat.

What a shit episode. Not impressed.

Not a fan of the TARDIS now we get a better look. Too many Galifreyan symbols, makes it look like a CBBC prop.

Opening is a lot better though, very reminiscent of classic Who.

Ehhh, looking forward to Gaiman's episode, but other than that, I don't hold out much for series 7.2.

Jist watched it. I thought that was a pretty good episode, not great, but good.

I like the new titles and theme, not so keen on new tardis.

Clara/JLC is bloody gorgeous though. Did everyone spot the missing years in her age count? 16 and 23 were missing.

JLS? Yeah, noticed the skipped years. I assume she just didn't update the book in those years, or at least forgot to update her age.

    @mal my autocorrect changed JLC!

It's doctor who, these things usually refer to something! especially when they focus on it like that

I imagine the leaf is more important seeing as the Doctor felt the need to lick it and ask where it came from in a knowing way.

It was indeed and she did so maybe?

I'd actually be very disappointed if she turns out to be another River. That would just be the easy option by now.
