This one quote just keeps coming into my head with much amusement. So much logistical debate and theorising, all swiftly swatted out of the way with 4 letters.

Registered 6 years agoJust started watching the Xmas special. What the fuck was with the title sequence? It was shit. I hope it's not a new/permanent feature. -

Registered 2 years ago@Spong I'm giving it a miss, will watch it in my own time when the sense of expectation has died down. God I hate Christmas Day! But yes, I understand the new logo, opening and music (none of which I've see yet) are all permanent. -

Registered 6 years agoThat's a shame, the title sequence was awful, it's just a bunch of random sci-fi/space imagery now.
Anyway, I thought the episode was actually quite good, I wasn't expecting much seeing as Clara's character rubbed me up the wrong way with her first appearance in Asylum. But consider me officially hooked after the way the Christmas special ended, it's all very intriguing. -

Registered 8 years ago@Spong poor titles (nice music though). Good story, weakfish ending, nice story setup.
I was looking forward to him not having a modern day assistant, Shame.. -

Registered 5 years agoGood episode, especially for a christmas special.
I wonder if they're going to kill her off in every episode? -

"You bastards!"
Episode was alright, the big bad wasn't really up to much but everything else was pretty good though.
The Doctor should have used one of Strax's grenades on the pond when he turned up, most of the trouble wouldn't have happened.

The music sounded largely the same to me, I couldn't really tell though because it all seemed to be drowned out by sound effects.
@Spong poor titles (nice music though).

I didn't think about that, maybe that's why Clara wasn't nearly as annoying in the Xmas special. She was way too smarmy & smug in Asylum, she reminded of a female Richard Madeley.

I seriously LOL'd at the "it's smaller on the outside?" line. A simple but effective twist on what's become a tradition.

Always hate the Christmas episodes. They're always shit. The series episodes are much better. Only sometimes shit. -

Registered 8 years ago@Spong I love how the music changes to reflect the old tunes. I really liked the more prominent bass in this one. Reminded me of the early 80's version. -

Registered 6 years agoLoved the new synthesiser heavy theme tune.
Hated the episode.
They should really stop writing episodes that require some kind of CGI to be used because whenever extensive CGI crops up in the series, it just looks jarring, the ice woman thing being a glowing example of this.
Their strength is definitely in prosthetics. -

Registered 6 years agoMmm I enjoyed that Xmas special!
I also like the more classic style titles which include the Doctor's face as they should and also finally, finally a long overdue return to the classic style high tech
TARDIS console room!!! Just like it ought to be! None of this cobbled together or steam punk rubbish.
(P.S. Life long Doctor Who fan who only just found this thread.

Plus Points:
+ The blatant Sherlock reference - 'I'm deducing, it's important!'
+ 'Winter is coming!'
+ 'I'm the clever one, you're the potato one.'
+ 'Pond'
+ Next series could be interesting.
Negative Points
- That CGI. Abysmal.
- Those puppets. I thought for a few seconds I was watching Sesame Street. Woeful.
- Should have been the Paul McGann Doctor just so Richard E. Grant could have been foiled and then shouted 'I'M GOING TO BE A FUCKING STAAAAAAAAR!".
- The entire plot. -
