Just got the US version of this, and..err..can't tell you that much about it, what with it routinely locking you out of stuff on a day-by-day basis. I will say that the handwriting and speech recognition is superb, only had a few problems (mainly due to the odd way I write G's and 7's). It's randomly got Sukodu in it as well, which I didn't know (the boxart has "NOW FEATURING SUKODU" plastered on it like a selling point). Having Sudoku will at least save me buying a paper every day though.

Definitely gonna be trying this out during my lunch breaks at work for a few days, and let you know the results.

Although my very first brain age was 60, then after doing the daily tasks it came down to 25, so either it takes a while to get calibrated, or my mind slows and speeds up at a stupidly fast rate. :/

Been looking for this in all the shops over here, haven't seen it yet. "Brain Training" - is that the title then?

"Brain Age" is the proper title.

It's not..."technically" out yet, so that's probably why you can't find it. At least I don't think it's released yet.

Budget release over here, isn't it? 15?

Probably buy it simply because of the price.

US full price DS game: 20 ($35)
UK full price DS game: 30

Brain Training US price: 11.50 ($20)
Brain Training UK price........ yup! According to Amazon and Play it's still 30 RRP (25 from them).

Fuck 'em. Really wanted this but i'm sick of publishers taking the piss with the pricing of stuff over here. No excuse for charging us almost treble the US price.

I'll hang on for a 2nd hand copy.

You're not going to get a hike from 11.50 up to 30 though.

Ahhh.... I see. Equivalent of VAT? How much do they pay typically? Surely it doesn't account for a 50% increase for a standard game?

The ex-VAT price of the game's still 25.50 - still more than double their ex-sales tax price :(

Second-day impressions..still the same. Unlocked a new training routine, which consists of counting syllables. Can't do the voice-based training at work though, feel a bit of a tit reading Heart of Darkness out loud, and shouting "Yellow, Yellow, Blue" all the time. :)

I'd love to pick this one up, but it seems futile. You can't train something that's already perfect.

Too early to say exactly, but in all honesty I think it's working quite well. I seem to feel a bit less doddery recently, anyway.

Because it's cheaper and quicker, although I didn't import this title, most DS games I've actually purchased I did (Metroid Prime, Kirby's Canvus Curse, Animal Crossing, Advance Wars etc)
THE GAME COULD BE DIFFERENT THAN THE UK VERSION
  • Deleted user 10 April 2006 11:43:05
    Yes, it could.

    It won't be, though.

It's common knowledge that PAL releases are a waste of time. I mean, as long as the hardcore import then the masses can get it on release here. I've been screwed over too many times before to be bothered to wait only to pay more. Get with the project!

Hmmm, but it's better to wait 2 and a half years for a game to be released...? Think this through a bit better...
