He's not as big of a fanboy as people make him out to be.

Could have fooled me. I listen to him regularly on the 1up podcast and he comes out as a massive fanboy. Hell, even Cliffy B thinks so:

SHANE: OK, I just asked Cliffy whether or not this will run at 60 fps. No dice, but he promises that it will stay above 30 throughout. Also, Cliff had to be a bit of a dick by repeating my question as, "When is Gears 2 coming out for the PS3?" Funny, real funny.

Edit - I bet he didn't enjoy that... given Cliffy was on stage doing a presentation at the time. \o/

Couldn't care less what Cliffy B thinks.

He is a bit of a fanboy, but he likes 360 and Wii games too. He's a real japanophile though so it's not surprising.

Shane's trying to encourage 360 owners to buy shit games so that they'll get pissed off and defect to the glory of PS3. :-)

I think I've made the mistake in the past of looking at this from a "this is the new DMC" perspective, and so I've thought it looks a bit shabby. But given that it's being touted as "this is the new PSO", I've had another look and I'm really excited about it now.

Shame it's gone from 4-player coop to 2, though.

I'm massively disappointed about no local co-op, i'll probably still pick it up though as it definitely looks like my kind of game.

As far as 4 player action rpg frivolities go, i'm really relying on Sacred 2 to deliver that, it has local co-op for 2 players as well!

Disappointed? Yes. Won't really matter for me as my gaming mates have a gold account anyway. I'm more disappointed by the lack of 4p coop.

Game still has an outside chance to impress. It'll be hard to get a feel for it before really laying hands on it, judging by the videos.

Yar, I still have hope (because I like these sort of games), but it could go either way.

The coop nerf down to to players is a real shame though.

Sure but you can see why though. It's already pretty cluttered with all the beasties, gauges and so on, it'd soon become unplayable with 4 players.
They could have offered offline 4 players splitscreen co-op though.

True. But then I will probably get it anyway as I'm a massive coop fan and also a massive DII fan.

Hoping for the best but prepared for the worst.

Gauntlet legends on the n64 had 4p coop. It was brilliant. And very chaotic.

That game play video sort of reminded me of Devil May Cry.
The shooting bit juggling enemies in the air and the enemies all having far too much life bar so even the lowest of minions takes loads to kill.

That is not a good thing for me as I found the fight mechanics in Devil May Cry pretty unsatisfying.

It's a more or less stat-based action-RPG, rather than a skill-based fighting game. I doubt the combat will have much to do at all with games like Devil May Cry.

I believe the idea is that it's sort of DMC/NG/GoW style combat but inside an action RPG in the same vein as Diablo, sounds bloody brilliant to me!

Sorry... didn't realise the autolinker had screwed up, again.

I hesitate to say it... but the ingame footage they show is starting to look far more impressive than it used to. I'd even go so far as to say that some of it looks good.

I am liking the documentary parts very much.

Game looks good too.. sounds like it's shaping up really well. Still won't be entirely convinced until I get my hands on it, but I like the ideas presented in it, and online co-op sounds lovely.
  • Deleted user 29 May 2008 14:05:11
Ok,somebody explain this to me 'cause i'm starting to feel stupid :
Is the whole "Goblin man of Norway" bit a complete fabrication/viral ad OR is it based on a real existing documentary and "fact"?

I'm really intrigued here (i'm a sucker for these kind of things).

    Cheers

edit:Fake, the old bald bearded man rocks though, +1 to old geezers !

I guess that's the way I need to view now too (expecting it to be a competitor to NG2).

As a pure rpg-grind in the wake of PSO (plus a great story to boot).

Has to be a fairly niche genre on the console though.
So true. I still can't understand why such a niche title has so much financial backing from MS. Do they expect this to shift units or something? O_o

Too Human has been getting ripped to bits on that site I can't mention for a long time... basically open season on trolling from everyone including the mods. Well, credit to Dyack as he's posted there to call out all the trolls and get them into one place.

    Gutsy Move Really

I'm still not sure about the game but kudos to him for standing up for his product.
