The problem is, what if it is a fantastic game but the press will go meh because it wasn't hyped enough for them to stamp a 10/10 on it before they even played it?

Plenty of examples of games that weren't hyped that where infinitely superior whilst getting meh reviews compared to games that where hyped and got glowing reviews.

    Even on this site.

Then again what if it's simply, you know - shit?

Doesn't really matter. If it ends up being crap it ends up being crap. Trolling the shit out of a game before even a demo is released is just a bit pathetic.

But this is made by SK - they do have some good games on their name - and ms has been pretty much on the money most of the time with funding new IP's.

Personally I hope it's going to kick ass because I'm in dire need of a new hack and slash but then I'm keeping in mind that this might be a dud. With the amount of games I look forward to at that time of year AND what I still have to catch up to, it won't really matter if it turns out to be bad.

All is fair in fanboy wars. It's only part of the boredom entertainment game. It doesn't really matter what others think of the games you play or the machines you own as long as you're having fun with them.

How can people justify ragging on a game that:

    1. Is still in development?
    2. They haven't played?
    3. Seems to be providing a blow-by-blow account of the development cycle on their website that makes for interesting and illuminating reading?

Genuine question, I'd never heard of this game till 5 minutes ago. For the record, I think it looks like it could be really good.

I thought it sounded really great - then I saw it running and went "well... that looks a bit shit", and now I really don't care much about it either way. Fingers crossed that it'll be great, but the visuals this far are very, very underwhelming.

I agree, the visuals don't exactly blow you away. But then how good are the visuals on Diablo 2, PSO, NWN2? These games don't really live or die on their graphics.

Still looks far more visually interesting than Gears 2.

Diablo 2's visuals were pretty good back when it was released. Anyone playing D2 now deserves to be spitroasted by a pair of giraffes.

Liar. No man prefers Too Human over Gears 2.

Whilst I like my eyes exploding due to excessive videogame prettiness as much as the next man, it will be the way Too Human plays, especially in co-op, that determines it's worth in my eyes.

Normally I'd agree, but no matter how RPG-y it is, a hack 'n slasher needs to convey the fact that when hitting stuff, you are dealing out some serious hurtage. Right now, TH feels about as visceral as an episode of Postman Pat.

It shouldn't matter, really. When I hit someone with a sword/hammer/mace (...), I expect to see the blow impact, and my victim react accordingly. From what I've seen so far, THs combat doesn't carry any weight to it. Hitting stuff just makes it... die.

The combat I've seen didn't look all that bad, larger enemies didn't have hit reactions, but they were pretty damn large. There was certainly a fair amount of bouncing stuff around with the smaller enemies. I'm not expecting Ninja Gaiden here.

Also, good sound effects can make combat feel meatier, and I haven't heard it properly.

eerrr, I still play it. It's one of those lan games that you just end up playing. Still looks good. The art style is just very good and because it's 2d, it has really held it's own.
