This is the game that convinced me that the 360 was the console for me. I love mechs.

Oh reality_cheque, you posting style reminds me of a dead hamster on acid, you should never post again.*

*This statement may not be entirely accurate but reality_cheque and I have agreed to bully each other so we fit in better.

Don't know if this is the right thread to post this in, but the game is looking rather good.

New trailer looks great. But for a long shot the game seem to be for AC fans. Me. Hehe.

Is it all 3rd person, or is there a cockpit view? I can't get on with Mech games without a cockpit view. Does anyone remember Iron Assault - one of the best Mech games ever.

There's definitely a 1st person view, IIRC. Have a nose round gametrailers.com for some TGS footage.

    Mechwarrior Multiplayer FTW!

Everyone always went for the big slowpoke mechs, but what good is all that firepower when a small mech hops from building to building and constantly hides out of your vision because your to slow in turning? ;p

What's the point in all of that mobility when a single lucky shot will take a leg off, and blow up your mech? I always preferred the agile mechs too, but Mech 4 really favoured the heavy weaponry in my experience.

I used to kick ass at MW4, but that was with a big joystick and a lot of buttons. Can't wait for this to come out, Battletech or not I'm a sucker for stompy robots.

Yeah, I didn't take the chance to sit down and play it at E3, but I did watch some people playing it and it looked pretty damn nice. Certainly looked a lot of fun and the graphics were definitely up there with the best.

It's a shame that the Armoured Core games are so numbingly shite, otherwise that'd be quite the recommendation. Still looking forwards to this though, I hear they use those fancy analogue sticks to aim up and down!*

    *AC joke.

This is sounding more and more ace by the day.

    IGn Multiplayer hands on

    I particularly like this bit:

"Continuous online battles strike a nerve in any real gamer. When you first sign on to Xbox Live in Chromehounds, you'll be asked to pick a side and a squad in the Neroimus War.

You'll see an isometric map featuring a large continent with battles taking place in various sections, and you'll also be asked to build a mech. Bring a mech from the single-player game if you want, or use the online garage to build an entirely new one -- your choice. The map also shows the current status of the war, giving your squad and you routes into battle, and it shows where the state's capital is. The goal here is to gain as much territory as possible, and by controlling more "battlefields" than the enemy, you'll earn more cash and merits, plus you'll gain more power in that territory. You'll know if you've won the territory by winning more than half of them.

Since this fight takes place over a relatively long time, you can jump in and out of it whenever you want. By winning battles, you'll earn money to continue funding your squad, and if no one is around to play, you can play against AI mechs. In this case, less rewards and merits are doled out. The Neroimus War will continue until two of the three factions are annexed, but if the war is undecided for more than two months, it will re-set to pre-war conditions."

    /pre-orders
