After hearing a few forumites banging on about Windowblinds, I've decided to install it and am having a few problems.
When I tried to install a skin, it changes the colour of everything but not the style.
i.e. My Start button, bottom toolbar, menu etc is a different colour, but still in my deault 'classic' style. It looks nothing like the fancy buttons shown in the skin previews. Am I missing something?
I've been into Display Properties/Appearence and changed it there, but to no avail, only the colours change and not the style!

    Never ever bloody anything ever....

I think that's pretty much it for windowblinds. It's a piece of shite.

    Naabs.

Style XP is crap, WB isn't!

Don't post "helpful" comments unless you know what you're talking about.

    Nipples, what version of windows?

I used to use it. It's nothing more than a freely available theme service hack with a shitty front end. If you paid for it, you've been ripped off.

WB uses less than half the recorces the native XP themer does nowadays.

    Windows, not WB.

    XP home, pro... 98?

Try killing off the native themes service if it's xp pro, with home you'll have to do it via start>run>msconfig>services and reboot.

It's Xp Home. I've looked in services for a 'native theme service' and can't find anything along those lines.

    Thansk.

Everything apart from the Start menu is skinned now. I'm not sure how, but it works ok apart from that. It's a bit annoying having fancy skins with a Windows Classic menu tho.....
    Any ideas?

WindowBlinds sucks ass... It's buggy and uses a shitload of resources. Your much better with something like the uxtheme.dll hack and some 'proper' Windows themes!

Alternatively, don't bother and look at what is between the edges of your screen.

I'd personally steer clear of window blinds. I used to use it, but then spent a good couple of days trying to track down a memory/resource leak in a software application I was developing only to discover the leak was in actually within window blinds. Turned off / uninstalled straight away and haven't had any problems since.

    Bump

I'm having similar problems. I've installed WindowBlinds 5, but my system just seems to keel over and die. It runs really slowly and the only thing that changes is the background. The toolbar goes black, all my icons disappear.

Anyone got any ideas? I've disabled the "themes" service and it's installed on a fresh install of XP Pro.

    MH,

Beware, there is a cracked (several actually) versions fo WB5 knocking about which have memory leaks and other problems such as bmp's not displaying etc.

Before anyone does 'oh arrr me hearties' on me, I have a full verison of object desktop and WB5 is working just fine for me.

I had some issues in the past and I found <a href "http://forums.stardock.com/">these</a> People to be incredibly helpfull.

Also, I had to mail Stardock once about an issue and they were FANTASTIC, responded personally in 10 minutes and followed up aswell.

Previous verison of WB were prone to a little memory hogging alright. Not WB5 tho it seems.
