It's nearly a year since i played Katamari Damacy at the spring geekmeet. But like a long-distance lover, I'm getting all hot under the collar at the prospect of getting my hands on it on Friday !

And my wife's out for the night too ! Am I bordering on some kind of freakish infidelity by falling in love with a mad prince and a dude with a silly hat who pushes sticky balls around to maddening catchy soundtracks ?

/wonders if this sounds like a Jamiroquai video.

Anyway - I urge you, in the name of all that is good in the world, to buy this game. Prove that we were right and there's a market for imaginative, funny games.

btw: Hello all. It's been a long time.

    Hiya!!

    /waves

Got the import already, but if you haven't got it already you should definately. Not quite the best game evah that some make it out to be, but definately a good laugh, and worth picking up just to prove an important point as jon boy says.

Mainly work. After effectively taking a year off (IE: turning up at previous job only to log onto the EG Forum and have a laugh) I got a new employer. And it's a proper, grown-up job. Working hard and driving a lot.

Hopefully in the next few months I should be able to visit EG a bit more than I have since September. No other news really. Oh, my mum died on Christmas Eve and I'm hoping to move house in the Spring (after which I'll be investing in an Xbox 360 and a wider broadband pipe - \o/ ). And then it's a case of growing up properly and starting a family. Scary !!!

/has self image of being a Peter Pan figure.

Thanks. Yeah - it wasn't too bad. Being pragmatic (and trying not to sound heartless) she died of cancer and it was over remarkably quickly. She died peacefully, relatively painlessly and had the chance to say goodbye to those she loved. And there aren't many better ways to leave are there ?

THis year's already shaping up to be a good 'un. And you've always got to look forward. Cling to the past and you're as lost as that to which you cling.

Hmm, We Love Katamari is showing as in stock at play.com - is that because their delivery takes so damn long that you _might_ get it by Friday?

I agree with that statement 100%.

Ummm.... so what's this about Katamari being "in stock" via Play. I've usually found Play real quick in delivering - so you could have it by Wednesday if you ordered today ...

Here's a tip. When you talk to someone/thing in the Select meadow in the top left corner it will show if a present can be found on that level, and also how many cousins. I'm ashamed to say we've had the game for months and I never noticed that helpful feature. I read about in this guide to collecting every cousin:

It's out this week? Wow, I was totally expecting to have to wait a few more months to get this. Bang goes my planned CoD2 purchase on Friday.

But, more importantly, condolences to you silver jon.

Spread the word. Let's get this to the top ten in the charts and prove the EG forumites truly have the power to influence.

Rauper will probably buy us all a pint in return. Won't you ? Rauper ? Hello ?? Is this thing on ?!

    /tumbleweeds . . .

(btw, thanks Singularity. But it's a natural thing and there's no need to dwell on sadness. Accentuate the positives and all that!)

Pfft. There's not only this and SOTC out, but also Psychonauts out in between. I'm actually glad that WarioWare Twisted still isn't going to come out for a couple of months for a change.

Bit of lunchtime posting's allowed so...

    We Love Katamari

    2 things:

    1) Don't be put off by the tutorial levels. Get through them quickly as possible. And then move on.

    2) Don't be put off by the naff level selection thing either. Walk up to someone, engage them in conversation, then get on with the important business of Katamari LOVE.

Definitely a game you should own for the PS2 if you've never experienced a Katamari game before. Really hope this sells well, perhaps it might send a much-needed message to a few japanese developers that yes, we here in Europe DO play stuff other than naff racers and FPS games.

Started it yesterday. Controls threw me back a bit. Still not really use to them. The manual (which is probably the best manual eva!) says you can dash by quickly moving the analogue sticks back and forth but I can't seem to get it to work.

If it's like Katamari Damacy, then what they mean is first pull both thumbsticks towards you in a kind of momentary flicking motion, and then immediately forwards.

Imagine you're barging a door down and before you go forward you rock back on your heels for increased momentum. It's like that. But with thumbs. And a sticky ball instead of a door. And a cow is stuck to it.
