Although fair play - WYWH is top notch.

Most 70's Floyd is top notch really, blasphemy to Barrett fans, sorry, never been a fan of the early stuff.

My favourite PF album is Echoes:The best of Pink Floyd

I joke of course, The Wall is their "magnificent Octopus

Anyway you lot I have told you that RW has two brand new tracks avalible to listen to...so get to it, they are fookin epic.

There's a lot to love on Relics - but I wouldn't want to subject myself to a whole album of solo Barrett or Barrett-era Floyd.

Funnily enough, the only guy I ever knew who was a major fan of Syd Barrett was also a major fan of The Cure - and that always seemed to make a weird kind of sense to me as they share a similar dippiness that (IMHO) can be great in small doses (i.e. some individual tracks) but a whole album of it would make me feel very queasy indeed.

Disintegration is an incredible album start to finish.

I also quite like Piper. It's not proper Floyd but it's likeable for what it is.

    @ghostgate2001

Ha, I can see the connection. Robert Smith does have that Barrett kind of oddness that's ok in small does.

Have a listen and tell me what you think. If you don't LOVE them, don't tell me what you think ;)

Oh boy you're not wrong, these are killer tracks, am I listening to some unreleased Floyd songs?

    Deja Vu gave me goosebumps!

Good lad, I always liked you :)

Re the sound, are you familiar with his solo stuff, usually it does not sound that Floydish. This album IS very Floyd. I love Waters whatever, but this stuff is killer. After the very lacklustre last PF album and only ok DG solo, I'm so excited for this.

Yeah I am fairly familiar with his solo stuff, that's why I was surprised, it's really Floyd sounding. Love it, definitely buying the album on the strength of those two tracks, good job on promoting them. :D

Wow, 2 great tracks, actually sounds like PF, I miss DG's voice though, RW's voice is very effective used selectively alongside better singers IMO.

This might be heresy, but I'm not a huge fan of Dark Side of the Moon. It's got three great tracks on (Breathe, Time and Money) but I'm not sure any of them are in my top 5 Floyd tracks and the album as a whole isn't as strong conceptually as its immediate predecessors.

    Am I missing something?

Nah, I prefer Meddle, Animals, WYWH and The Wall.

@GoatApocalypse I really like DSotM but I can see where you're coming from (though I'd argue The Great Gig in the Sky is a good song as well but horses for courses obviously)

I rate it mostly as an album, not as much for its individual songs. It's one of those albums I listen to from beginning to end - and never in random order - or not at all. And frequently as background music.

So, I've been listening to the two new Roger Water tracks on a daily basis, they are just so good. I hope and pray the rest of the album is of this quality.

The Wall would be my favourite if it just contained Comfortably Numb and a load of static.

It almost makes heroin seem like a good idea.

IIRC, the only Cure albums that I ever "upgraded" to CD were Staring at the Sea (mainly for A Forest) and Pornography. So I guess that, as full Cure albums go, that one must've got the thumbs-up from me back in the day. Haven't listened to it in many years, though, so I've no idea whether it would still float my boat.

Yep, I bought the deluxe version of Piper when it was released (the one with the mono and stereo versions, plus a third bonus CD) with the intention of giving it a fair without-prejudice hearing, but it turned out to be the bonus disc that's seen the inside of my CD player more often than the album itself.

Overall, I think all the tracks I really cared for were already on Relics, but the alternative versions of Interstellar Overdrive on the bonus disc are certainly quite enjoyable with a herbal roll-up :)

Scotch (lots of scotch) + WYWH blasted loud through my Sennheiser Momentum headphones has done wonders for me tonight. Wonders.

Great to see you are still enjoying the tracks. I'm in total agreement by the way. The 3 tracks are outstanding. We have not got long to wait now.

Live version but fuck me, another stonker of a track from Roger Waters upcoming album. This could be the best Pink Floyd album (:p) since The Wall.

Fuck it, bought the CD version from Amazon (even though I don't have a CD player, lol) as you get the MP3 version any way, and it's only a pound more. Hopefully some nice art or lyric book or something comes with it.
