Like most of your posts then. Don't bash Floyd!

Why not? They are, after all, probably the most usless band in the history of music.

My trolling is never pointless. It's always deeply profound.

So who do you all think was more impressive at Live 8, Pink Floyd or The Who? I was a Floyd fan before I liked The Who, but Daltrey and Townsend surprised me with just how good they were when I watched Live 8.

What, I'm only half a year late in asking this... =)

Performance-wise, The Who licked Pink Floyd... Was a bit sad to hear Roger Waters' deteriorated voice. They were still damn good but The Who had the edge...

Wish you were here was critically panned on release, coming a coupla years after the incredibly successful Dark side of the moon (rumour has it that when cd's came around a german pressing factory was dedicated entirely to pressing copies of the album and it still sells around 1M copies a year) but it's popularity grew and it's considered my a lot of Floyd fans to be their favourite album.

It's probably my fave, followed by Dark side, then Meddle and then the Wall. The Wall is let down, IMHO, by the Trial and a couple of other weak songs. Meddle has the excellent One of these days on it though :D

Actually DSotM was hugely panned when it was first released - many critics deriding it as a "sound effects record." The public of course stuck two fingers up at the critics and bought it in their droves... eventually.

If The Final Cut wasn't actually just a Roger Waters album then it would probably be my favourite, but of the proper PF albums it always comes down to The Wall and DSotM. Love bits of Meddle and Wish You Were Here, but The Wall and Dark Side are just great all the way through.

Sorry for the self-bump, but I needed to say this: Pike, how is PF worthless?

Missed this but The Who really rocked and pwned Floyd at Live 8. But Both of them were just that little bit above the rest.

It's gotta be "Piper At The Gates of Dawn". The later stuff is dull, dull, dull.

Every time I read or hear the words 'Pink Floyd', I imagine some middle-aged man wearing a tatty old Floyd t-shirt tucked into his stonewash jeans and he's standing ranting about how all modern music is shite despite them not having listened to anything outside the charts in 15 years.
