Probably already posted but even I have enough self respect not to read this thread to check.

That's zero self-respect, surely? To have self-respect you'd have to read it, then not get angry and despair for humanity ;) Then you win.

But nope, not posted yet. Very good :)

Star Trek Into Darkness behind the scenes, a little bit spoilery, but less than the trailers.

Theres still universe A merchandise still being produced and its still very much a 'thing' but, yeah, I doubt we will ever see it on film again.
For this reason, I won't consume anymore Trek until it does, personally I can't fathom a reason for not collapsing the JJVerse but allowing the JJCrew to seek refuge in the Prime universe, thus making these new movies actually relevant.

So... just to confirm.. you are now boycotting *everything* to do with star trek until they release a 'prime' universe movie?

Thank God; can you boycott this thread too then (as 'original' trek will NEVER be back)?

Well everything unrelated to the the Prime universe, so it doesn't include TNG Blu Ray box sets for example, and my preferred revival would be in TV series format, I kinda have hope that one of the streaming services like Netflix/Amazon will finance it that will allow ongoing arcs similar to Enterprise Season 3 or the mini movie format of Enterprise Season 4

Holding your breath until the world does exactly as you want is all very nice, but cutting yourself off from new Trek in a silent, pointless, totally unheard and unregistered protest is a bit ridiculous. You might as well watch the new stuff, then at least you'd know what you were on about.

No, I like Rock music, if suddenly Justin Beiber says his music is "Rock music" does that make me happy that "Rock Music" is popular again, no does it F, its still Justin Bieber and not Rock music.

The current situation a dangerous and damaging one to Star Trek as a whole and I can not and will not support anything as degenerate as the JJVerse concept.

Yeah, better to be informed than a dick about it.

Netflix/Amazon will never, not ever, strategically be in the right place to produce any Star Trek tv show.

"Rock music" is a genre. "Star Trek" is not a genre, it's an intellectual property. It's defined by whatever the copyright holder says it is.

Which you can't possibly say is degenerate without having seen. Genuine question: What would you do if D Vickers got a starring role in the next one?

The current situation, which you don't know, is damaging to star trek and you won't support anything as degenerative as new trek, which you haven't watched.

    You. Are. Mental.

Also, if you don't support new Trek now, there won't be any Trek later, meaning by refusing to watch it you are simply condemning Trek in any format.

Also, how do you know you don't like beiber unless you've heard the songs. You've never watched the films.

Also, YOU'VE NEVER WATCHED THE FILMS.

I hope prime universe Craig is better than real universe Craig.

I've got to say the new film didn't feel like a Star Trek film. It felt like a generic action film. I think it's sad really that the kind of film I want from ST doesn't seem to be able to exist anymore. I want pace. Not all guns forward for 90 minutes. I want ponderous bits. Even WoK, the most action-y of the original movies had themes.

I dunno, I'd be happy with no more Trek, rather than what we have now.

That's what you get when the people who wrote Transformers, cowboys and aliens and Prometheus are given the reins.

Still films written by the terrible trio make a fuckload of cash so viva la HUUURRR DURRRRR LAZERS BLACK GOO.

Star Trek is in a Schrodinger Cat situation, if I don't observe its corpse it can still be alive

Schrödinger Cats was really a bit of reductio ad absurdum though. Watching Star Trek really isn't because you can watch it right now if you want. Not watching it is just bad science, and bad you :p
