Yeah, like how everyone wanted Lost to make sense and be good, so instead he made it not make sense and shit.

That wasn't his fault at all Kal. You've been misinformed there.

The saucer isn't solid on the enemy ship (this shot is from beneath).

Those cutouts on the saucer are oddly angular aren't they. When was the last time a Federation ship bigger than a runabout had straight lines, in any iteration?

    I'm just glad there's a space battle.
The enterprise did literally nothing in Star Trek '09.

Except, y'know, jump into that debris field, hide behind a planet and then blow the crap out of neros ship.

New random gibberings for a Monday morning: I think the S.S. Botany Bay, not being awoken by Kirk, drifting into Klingon space. They woke him up and either turned him to the Klingon ways or, him being smart, he just played along. They might've used genetics research (from Enterprise) to furthur augment him, hence physical changes.

Then he decides the Klingons are honourable, so comes back to reclaim Earth for himself and as a Klingon colony either via a Trojan Horse (the stasis capsule room we see) or head on.

Not that it's 100% definite Khan is in it, but the more I think about it the more plausible it gets. As ever, all random guesswork :p

Being as we see him gunning down Klingons in the trailer I really don't think that he's friends with them.
I thought he had gone there to start a war or something.

But it wasn't in a space battle. It got hit once by Nero's ship.
The Kelvin stuff at the start was far better.

Oops, forgot that! Then mostly the same but instead of peacefully leaving it's a heroic escape from the nasty rippleheads.

If he's come back on the Klingon side why's he done so in a Federation ship?

I think thats a bit of an overreaction to some warp nacelles being square.

People will start seeing this today/tomorrow - think there is a screening in Australia.
Really looking forward to this; it's going to get my Beastmaster film of the year award.

Yeah, it probably deserves a more detailed post:

Problems with the trailers so far:

Overblown. About 60% of the shots of an Enterprise crew member is of then jumping off a cliff, and that's before we get to BC who spends his time like Morpheus on Gummi Berry Juice. Everything is so hyper and fast and yet...

BC looks like a shit villain. That chinless wonder is great at period piece foppery and fine as Sherlock but here he just looks like some floopy haired nonce. All Kirk needs to do is punch him. And his line delivery is all wrong, weird and overemphasised. SHALL. WE. BEGIN... YOU. CAN'T. EVEN. GUARANTEE. THE SAFETY. OF. YOUR. OWN CREW... I'LL. HAVE. A. FULL ENGLISH. PLEASE. LOVE.

    Problems with the whole JJverse:

Slavish devotion to the original. Everyone is impersonating another actor's performance (with the one exception where they just went for 'hot black chick' and assumed that's all people remembered about Uhura, which is fair).

Camera Parkinsons. You can't see anything. It ramps up the frenetic action but kills off tension, place, drama, suspense. It's hard to be on the edge of your seat when you can't tell what's happening.

Stupid additions. The brewery engine room, the Apple shop bridge, that awful battleship in the trailer. Oooh, look how big I am, and big is always better, which is why a helicopter gunship would easily be destroyed by a 747 or a navy destroyer by an oil tanker. Fucking stupid.

LB, you really are a massive geek.

It's going to have to have a decent story this time. If I want to watch mindless action I'll watch Fast and Furious 6 :p

I like @Dfawkes idea but it's not very likely :)

I dont think any of that is really true. Yes the trailer concentrates on people jumping off cliffs and whatever because its a trailer.

BC seems fine with the little dialogue we hear. Hes a good actor, so that doesnt particularly worry me.

And, wrt, the impersonation thing, I dont think that could be further from the truth. I think they all have the core personality traits, but they are far from caricatures, with everyone giving the character they are playing their own spin. Its one of the things that impressed me most about the first one, to be honest.

And its still nice to see you upset about them deciding that a space ship capable of warping time and space needs an engine bigger than a broom cupboard lit like a brothel ;)

Escapes Qo'nos, wander to Federation border, distress call "oh, I was all captured and shit!", get taken aboard Federation ship (a good one with lots of firepower because, as a border patrol ship, it's one of the likeliest ships to enter combat with bored Klinks), take over ship with GENIUS POWER! Job done.

Hmm I found that a little hammy... "SHUT UP SPOCK WE'RE TRYING TO SAVE YOUR LIFE DAMMIT!"

And Simon Peggs Scottish accent is still abismal. :/
