    That's a good call.

I still think the 'I'm so sorry' bit is off key, I want to see him never bested and never giving in and somehow winning through, like Tim Allen.

Yeah, it looked extremely likely from the latest trailer.

    Come and get it cumslingers!

Quick thought - could John Harrison be a Khan clone (possibly altered somehow)? If he was, you could hand wave away any issues him being Khan would raise - different personality, why he's around, why he was in Starfleet at some time, why he's up and around etc.

Unlikely I know. Just typing out load.I still think it's not Khan, and they're still purposefully spreading misinformation and misdirection to create a proper reveal.

I'm un-tagging this. It's not spoiling anything, it's just stuff I made up. If stuff I made up spoils the film for you, then I must be some kind of Celluloid Psychic :p

John Harrison is clearly going to be a cover name for Khan.

Like Silvas real name in Skyfall was like Pedro Lopez or something. He's in a black star fleet uniform, so my money is on some kind of Black Ops gone rogue type situation.

If it is Khan it'll be so weak.

    I think it is.

It so clearly is. The trailer shows Kirk involved in a battle of wits with a genetic superman.

There is absolutely no way its not Khan.

I know that they don't care about old Trek now, and they totally wouldn't be fussy about pissing over TOS to make a good movie (which I still think they will have done), but I still hope they take old Trek into account with at least a token bullshit explanation if it is Khan.

They dont really need any explanation other than the one they had in the original star trek: eugenics war, blah blah blah, cryogenically frozen, blah blah blah.

Khans origins happen far, far before star trek (2009) fucked with the program, so they will still be out there somewhere.

This is reaching in the extreme but the shape of the saucer section of that ship that Cumberbatch turns up in looks similar that of the prime universe....

That did make me revisit the trailer and pause is, and I agree that it certainly has a Prime Universe look to it. Don't think we should read too much into it though.

Some good, clean theorising going on on this page, keep it up gents.

I too would like a look at a screen cap from the trailer showing Cumberbund's ship.

The reason people are asking for screencaps is likely because they cant get youtube at work

There's a later shot where the ship is better contrasted against a planet.

But yeah, very Excelsior. And ridiculously big and fanwanky.

Heh, good point. But this is at least eight times the volume of the Enterprise, which is itself massively scaled up next to the original ships. It's the size of a Star Destroyer...

Maybe it's closer to the camera.

Yep, closer to the camera, especially in the second linked shot. Definitely. Yep.

Would John being Khan be an amazing twist to a modern Trek audience though? I mean, I'm sure he probably is Khan, but would that have the necessary wow factor today? Probably not.

The Excelsior ship looks like it's from the future, no? They wouldn't use time travel again surely.

I still think the years of rumours about Khan being in this sequel will have made Abrams & Co. actually avoid having the character in the film in some way shape or form. It just seems to easy option and Abrams likes to do things his own way.

Would love to see one of the ships in these new trek films. You can't see jack though because of the 0.2 seconds shots, extreme close ups, lens flare (natch), wobbly camera and 400000000 lasers.
