    Bob Orci and Alex Kurtzman said previously in an interview that Cumberbatch plays a character from Trek Canon. So now this John Harrison reveal has totally thrown me. :confused:

    There were more blatant uses of 3d in this trailer than the whole of the IMAX version of 'The Hobbit'!

    Pegg's accent wandered out of this trailer, over the Misty Mountains and back again too!

    I rolled a tear when their hands touched the glass. Sad, but true.

    This and Man of Steel. Best summer ever.

    I don't want to appear ungrateful, but if I had to sit next to that giggly bird and her annoying tall boyfriend I'd end up murdering them. Slowly.

    Khan was never starfleet.

    He was frozen on the Botany Bay WAYYY before the new timeline was created though (heck, we're already 16 years overdue!). I suppose you could have it so another ship finds him, let him out (without them finding out who he is) and join Starfleet. Seems rather unlikely though, plus he doesn't even vaguely look like Montalban. Again, I suppose some kind of cosmetic surgery isn't out of the question.

    It'd be just such a strange choice to revisit. Star Trek at least tried to pander to the canon loving crowd, but to take one of the few ships that probability says would be mostly unchanged in the new timelime and bring it back seems a strange decision to make when you can have a new villain.

    The things in we see in the trailer aren't his style either, and the characters are generally at least vaguely similar to their prime universe counterparts. I'd say it's almost definitely not Khan as the primary antagonist, though it wouldn't surprise me if it was one of his followers or something.

    The last bit of this trailer analysis makes a good khan argument

    Trailer analysis? Some people have too much free time.

    Actually, having just watched it over on Apple trailers, I really wish I could isolate the audio because Dr. Blonde McBigTits scream (which is compressed to be above the score) does sound suspiciously close to 'Khaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa-!".

    i reckon that was a clever bit of misdirection, it could have just as easily been Spock and Cumberbatch touching through the brig glass.

    You are and will always be my friend. ;_;

    I hope it isn't Khan, I want a new story not a retread or twist of an old one, tis just lazy and predictable.

    John Harrison is a character from Trek canon - he was a red shirt in Space Seed who was killed by Khan.

    People, remember this is STILL just a teaser trailer. There's another more detailed trailer waiting to be released at some point.

    My brother had the idea that perhaps the roles are reversed and Kirk is sacrificing himself. SO the hands thing is the other way round. It also fits the opening narrative of him being too reckless etc. Maybe he's the one making the sacrifice this time and not Spock?

    Sounds good to me.
