    Why do you think I didn't like Star Trek 2009 and why do you think I'm a fan of Stargate?

    I liked Star Trek 2009 a lot, it has good action, good characters, interesting dynamics... . Science Fantasy is not a term I use to make a movie sound bad. I love the old Star Wars movies. They have believable characters and much more.

    The way you just now used the term sci-fi now encompasses all sub genres and mixes and what not which is fine. I'm not saying "good" sci-fi needs to be like this or that.

    I'm not a fan of the nonsense tech-talk on TNG, in fact I dislike it a lot. If a movie creator doesn't take his time to come up with something sensible and useful plotwise then I'd advice him to not bring up the tech-talk at all.

    Sorry mate, that was just as much of a rant at Trekkies claiming all that is the be all and end all of scifi. Granted, it's an all encompassing term, but pigeon-holing just creates so many defined sub-genres we could be here all day :D

    No worries.

    If you have the time, there is a really, really well made "documentary" on Star Trek 2009 by redletter-media.
    (all of his Plinkett stuff is excellent if you can stomach his weird way of pretending to be a hillbilly)
    Most thoughtful things I ever heard about Star Trek, it also explains much about the other movies.

    I did watch The Captains, but that was more of a money spinner for old Shat's than anything revelationary.

    If we're talking reviews, I'd also recommend SFDebris. He does some pretty in depth stuff, without pandering or sounding like a complete fanboy and he's covered all of the movies and a good chunk of the good (or really bad) TV episodes.

    Ign and others revealing that Alice Eve's character is actually none other than.......... Carol Marcus!

    So pretty much rules out Mitchell then, and signals Khan? Interestingly in a photo released from Paramount the subtitle says his name is "John Harrison". Could be another bluff, although surely this is too early for Khan and Genesis etc?

    I suppose most films have the same lead time between trailer and movie release but we're frothing at the gash here.

    There are no space opera tv shows anymore. Space fiction on tv seems dead these days so this is all we have to look forward too.

    I dont know about that. A lot of movies, like the last one actually get finished and then have to wait a fucking age to be released at 'the right time'.

    The first one was finished in december and moved to may because it 'felt more like a summer blockbuster'.
