I'm sure everyone knows that Del Toro is no longer in it. I really hope it isn't Kahn; why re-hash? Unless this is of the first encounter...but still...fresh ideas!

There would be little point going back to Khan as a character he's probably quite dull one dimensional - it's just that he was so incredibly played by Montalb�n in the first instance.

I was listening to the keep'n it reel film podcast and they were having hilarious japes at the idea of any new star trek film having kirk's son re-imagined but still with his jumper wrapped around his neck in a country club style-e! =o

Has there been any news on a new prime universe series post voyager last I heard they were in the advanced stages of creating a 5 year treatment

No news on the post Voyager concept I'm afraid but they hadn't even pitched it to CBS officially so it's very early days. It was claimed that CBS execs they have talked to were very positive on it though so maybe it is still in the works.

I believe there was also plans of a TV series that was sadly based on the new "Star Trek" but thankfully that idea died so it's left to ruin just the movie side of things.

In fact if the post Voyager one does go ahead it supposedly ignores the wipe job "Star Trek" did on Trek canon.

It wasn't that bad. I actually quite liked the whole storyline in the Prime Universe picked up in novels and Star Trek Online, though it does skirt a bit close to just being a redux of Praxis blowing up, but with the Romulans.

The Hobus supernova and a couple of ships are really the only bits of hard canon Star Trek introduced, something that could be taken in many directions. You can just ignore the ships and their back stories from things like the Countdown comics, which leaves you with a destroyed Romulus and weaken Romulan Empire. You could always just downplay them a bit.

Kirby is the man! Even if he wasn't, he'd just ingest and become one.
