Then probably Argentina or Holland (could be Mexico or someone in their group but unlikely!) in the Quarters.

    Semi would probably be Brazil

    What were you saying Errol?

Bloody Hell! Shouldn't really expect an easy ride as the World Cup is meant to be 24 of the best teams in the world after all (well, give or take a couple) but that is one tough ride. I'd have preferred the potential of meeting Spain/Italy etc. along the way over that lot!

Oh well, if we do win it, noone will ever be able to claim we didnt play the best teams!
Too true, also gives us a perfect excuse if we fail! :o)

Uhhm, Brazil is in the bottom half of the draw and England are in the top half. So just like Holland no Brazil for you until the final.

If you win the group you'll play the runner up from group A (Germany) and if England is runner up they'll play the winner of that group. In either case you'll be in the top half of the draw. If you get to play Brazil next year it will be for a small golden statue.

Er, Germany will win Group A most probably, so we should end up playing another team from that group, doesn't matter who as the rest of them shouldn't cause us any problems.

You can't win without beating the best teams can you?

There isn't an excuse: for the last 5 years Sven's been hyping the team up to win the World Cup in 2006. It's the perfect time for all the players before they get too old etc. I know it's still a reasonably young squad, but in 4 years most of the team would be approaching or will be just over 30.

Claudio Pizarro is one classy player. And if Ibrahimovic has a decent tournament, England could be in for one hell of a ride. I can't wait.

If Greece can win the European Championship England can win the World Cup. Still, how long have England not beaten Sweden?

Portugals group is pretty straight forward too. Unlike most groups its obvious which two will go through.

Anyone think its a bit of a farce/rig that only a certain number of teams from a confederation can be in a group?
What Portugal group?! Straight forward?! You must be kidding... I'm just praying for the the team final preparation fase is far away from any strip club or a hooker zone... in the last world cup we went to a strip club/hooker infested zone... and we we're fucked... in both ways of the word...

How fucking patronising for the greatest footballer ever?
according to most of the country at the mo, the greatest footballer ever is spelt B E S T.

anybody else go to the pub for this? great atmosphere amusingly (surprisingly?), especially random people cheering or crying for random teams. Like the dutch guy. how we laughed at him ;)

Group E is my contender for group of death 2.

    GROUP E
    Italy
    Ghana
    USA
    Czech Republic

Excellent group. We never lose against England, a team that can always be counted on to be weak when it counts.

Fantastic draw. The only disappointment is where the games will be played. £8k capacity is not good for the Ingerland. Looks like I'm relying on the ballot for tickets

Even if we win our group? I worked it out we'd meet them in Match 60?

Maybe runners up spot will be better...

Nice to see France FINALLY get a tough group. Oh wait no...
Poor Holland though - thats the group of death alright.

I'm a bit worried about our group tbh...you're never quite sure with South American sides, Sweden we never beat and if anyone is going to be up for beating us it'll be Trinidad and Tobago. Can see a N Ireland slip up just waiting to happen...

    /is panicking needlessly.

Oh and if we go through we play one of the top two from Group A apparently. Poland or Germany...we'd better win our group to avoid the hosts...
