Just to confuse it, the university and the school seem to use differing versions of Harvard :) Zotero seems cool though.

So far I've learnt that citations and references make your writing look well posh, and that my words per minute output is glacial :)

I just passed US History with a final grade of 490/500. Fear my fountain of knowledge.

I've finished my degree (at long last) and expecting my results on Monday. I'm hoping for a 2:1 but I'm fearing/expecting it to be a 2:2.

Should I start digging my ditch now and writing a note to my parents to let them know how much a faliure I was or is it actually kind of ok?

Wouldn't worry about it really, I got a third (THE SHAME!).. after a bit of time I've got a job in roughly the same area and I'm doing a Masters with a reputable university.

Depends on how you bounce back. Not gonna lie, a first is obviously the best for a reason.

But you can do brilliantly well at anything with/without a degree. It's about talent, the correct application of hard work, and, sadly, contacts.

Thanks for the advice, despite my worrying and doubt I just checked my results and got a 2:1 overall. No bloody idea how as my graphics were so low but I did!

God I miss Uni. Not the wild parties and late night drinking (which I did before uni anyway), but the not being up at this bloody time and having days where the only thing happening was two quick lectures and then game time! Before my postgrad of course which was a year in hell. Sad times.

More importantly, I HAVE DECIDED A DISSERTATION TOPIC. Also you weren't up at this time when you were at Uni? I'm pretty sure my sleeping pattern has been fucked since high school. Quality EG timez.

    Get bent.

I may have still been awake at this time, rarely if ever did I get up at this time for uni.

Your degree is like your A-Levels and GCSE's before it. What you get only makes a difference for:

    - Getting to the next stage of education (if you want to do an Mphil or Doctorate).

    - Applying for a sought after graduate program like supermarkets/finance companies.

As someone who hires I can tell you the majority of businesses really don't give a shit. Give me work experience over a First any day of the week.

I think it probably depends on the sector to be honest. I hire as well, and it's certainly something I look for.

Valid point. I look at it but I'm not any more or less impressed by the different ratings. I got a First in my degree and my attitude to University was appalling.

Your in Marketing aren't you kalel? Useful vetting criteria due to volume I imagine?

These things are usually fine. It's never as bad as you think it's going to be! Final year, is it?

I've hated it since I graduated last summer. Left with a 2:1 and eager to get a career started, but it was impossible to get anywhere. Things really are shite for young people looking for a start. I've ended up going back to do a Masters. I'm really looking forward to it, but there's no doubt I'd rather be earning and feeling like an adult.
