On reflection, I think I'm going to go Mastermind first instead of brute. Actually fits the 'look' I've got in mind better too.

You may as well try and run both. I'll certianly be running at least two toons.

hehe, yeah I found that a bit strange too.

The highest villains I've seen were in their 20s yesterday. I'm sure someone will hit 40 early next week.

kalel, cool. I'm pretty laidback about it all, just curious about the base situation as I never saw one in beta and would like to see the concept played out in an SG.

I'll be playing my lvl13 tonight, but will be rolling a corruptor or mastermind this week. I'm a complete altoholic. :)

Am I correct in thinking you can play on any of the euro servers with CoV? Or do you have to pick one and stay there?

You can pick anyone though there are all of 2 English language servers in Europe. Defiant and Union.

Of course if you want, you could also play on the French or German servers.

Ah, just found out that Heroes and Villains can private msg each other and see their local and general chat.

Go to options then scroll down to chat and it'll give you the option (But of course both the hero and villain has to have it enabled to speak to each other)

I may make a last minute switch to Rad/Rad Therm. Did you go for DM in the end tobz?

yup, i've already built that mastermind. since getting booted off the servers i've rolled a rad/kin corruptor called FlufflyMan. to be honest i can see him becoming my main toon, although i aint entirely decided yet. so either rad or dm would complement him pretty well.

Seriously, I really would prefer not to have the same toon as someone else, having had two fire blasters in the EG Men before and it being a little on the dull side. I thought it would be really good if maybe we could co-ordinate this time. Hence me letting you all know I would be Rad/DM quite far in advance. Not too keen on having 2 rad corruptors in the group to be honest...

Sorry, sounded a bit arsey there. Be whatever you want guys, I just think it would have been fun, and looked a lot cooler if we had a really nice range of powers, but it doesn't really matter.

Not rude at all. I have no idea what I'm doing (in real life as well as CoV) so advice will be appreciated.

Well, we have no Dominators yet, although I will be rolling one as an alt, but take one of those and you can gurantee individulaity.

Otherwise, I think Brutes, Stalkers and Curruptors are probably the best newbie builds.

Brutes are basic melee monsters, and won't require a huge amount of initial skill or knowledge, but will probably take on the Tank role later on, so will be key.

Stalkers are a bit unknown, but they seem like stealth is their key, and they sneak in and deal fatal blows, could be fun.

Dominators are probably a little tricky, being related to CoH's controllers. They specialise in sleeps/hold/immobilisation, but have blasts for their secondary. Very powerful, but key team players too. They will get hurt without healers nearby.

Corruptors are very team oriented, and are a good way of learning the game I'd imagine, as what everyone else is doing will be more relevent to what you do than say a Brute. Having said that, they will require a bit more to learn initially.

Masterminds are a bit of an unknown entity, but they sound like they could get very complicated.

    Hope that helps.

stalkers sound like they are a bit of a key pvp toon with their stealthing, but they seem a little fragile in normal pve play being low on hit points. but like kal says, they are something of an unknown.

i didn't mean to tread on your toes there kal. just trying to mix powersets that interest me and aren't energy blast yet again. but with a different mix of primaries and secondaries i don't think we'll be too similar. and the stacking effects of the -def on rad blasts would make for a good mix.

Intent's lvl4 now, and I'm getting into it a bit more. A good opening critical can take and equal level mob down to almost zero, or a lieutentant to about half. Thing is, unless there's only one or two weak mobs left, you're in trouble. Hiding's a bit weird - it's possible to rehide and yet for enemies to still be chasing and attacking you. If this is a bug or not, I don't know. Aside from the opening hit, damage isn't spectacular which I wasn't really expecting coming from a WoW rogue (real high geberal DPS, low durability type). I'll see how things develop.

My brute (named Rebuke for lack of anything better springing to mind) is more straightforward, and also easier to solo with. He can take on at least as many mobs as my stalker, but takes a lot less damage doing so. I'll try and play them both equally for a bit and see which I end up favouring.

In the mean time there's still my CoH chars,

Buglossus, Bob Saru and several others that i can't remember.
I'll post again tomorrow with character details,

Well, I've managed to get Doctor Pretentio up to level 6 this evening, and good fun it was too! Went with Mastermind (can't remember what the pools I chose were called now, but I've got zombies and lots of poison type things). One zombie at the minute, Rotten Dave, and I've found he can take on about 3 yellows at the moment without it being too much of a problem.

How do we go about actually forming this Supergroup then?

Bummer. Maybe it just doesn't want you to be a Rad Corruptor :b

Lot and lots of fun tonight though, It's all so fresh and wonderful and different and better and ...

    /sigh

Rolled a Fire/Fire Dominator just to see what the highest damage dealing (read highest aggro seeking) toon in the game could pull off. The answer is lots. The potential of one of those bad boys at high level running around is kinda scary. Imagine ST with 5 fire imps and loads of holds o_O

To be honest tobz, if you did want to take Fluffly as your main then I'd be very happy just to carry on with my Dominator, just as long as you're prepared to seriously heal my arse! :)

kalel, yeah I'd like to take you up on the offer of the sg. It appears I got the notice late on from my coh sg that they were going to Union for CoV as people are running out of slots on Defiant.

I want to see my stalker through to 40 (especially after this past night of mayhem).

Send a tell if you see me and I'll be happy to join up.

So, this Supergroup wotsit. Time to start thinking about it properly I think, and when I hit 10 tonight I’ll probably go and set it up. Now, again, as with CoH, I’m not appointing myself leader, just trying to get the ball rolling and we can sort all that out later. But for the meantime, some thought has gone into the group, and how it will all work, and the oldies of the CoH group had already thought of a few things. However, if the others coming in don’t like what’s being suggested, of course we can look at some other things, but the name that was being considered for the group is:

“The Unbearable Darkness of Superbeings” or TUDoS for short.

I think this is a properly good name, but if anyone else has any suggestions please give em.

In terms of colours, in honour of our EG roots, Blue and green were being thought of, or possible white and blue. I think this is good as every single other SG will be Black and ______.

So far most of the toons seems to be in the 7-10 area, although I know we have a couple ion the mid teens. May I suggest if possible those a bit ahead maybe limit their levelling to 16 to give us all a chance to catch up (should only be a day or so), and maybe take up an alt in the meantime? Not a huge problem if not, we’ll all be the same soon anyway I’m sure.

    Thoughts anyone?

Sounds good to me. I'm not bothered about taking a driving seat since I'm still figuring out what a lot of stuff is, so it makes sense to me for the CoH vets to, y'know, lead. And the name certainly beats Evil Squad/Shadow Group/Dark Kn1ghts school of thought.

Got my stalker to 7 now, and onto the second island. I can see him going one of two ways at higher levels - either very useful and extremely powerful, or a bit crap. I alternate between the two now depending on how lucky I get with hits.
