Yeah, screen burn isn't such an issue now.
Even after playing HUD heavy games for hours on end i see no screen burn on my current tv. Any current plasma should have no issues with screen burn what so ever.

Registered 10 years agoLove my Panasonic GT50 - just incredible for everything really. So, another vote for plasma. Incredible black levels, motion and picture quality. Gaming is a revelation with low input lag and none of the motion smearing, ghosting and trailing you still get on LCD/LED TVs. -

Registered 4 years agoI have a 46" Panny plasma in the lounge. It's a few years old now but looks fab.
However I did buy a 32" LG LED TV for my study recently (PC gaming 1080p FTW) and am really very impressed with it. Once calibrated some new LCDs really can look fabulous.Pre-childish ragequit username - Harry

Registered 6 years agoI see plasmas are getting some love
Hmmm they are cheaper than lcd tvs and like the idea of deeper blacks.
Still considering tv but now after some more advice because despite what the ladies might tell us we know size matters.gif)
Ok here's the thing. My living room is pretty small horizontally but I'm adamant that 55 inch screen isn't too big. I would be sitting approx 2 meters from it. My gf says no
too big. My counter argument is that nobody moans when going to the cinema the screen is too big! It's why there is such a thing as IMAX.
Really need some advice! What do you reckon?.gif)
/what's a huge tv.

Registered 6 years agoWell apparently its deffo true. My uncle asked a Panny rep (his shop sells high end tv's from Panny and Sony) and they're ducking. What they are doing is going into business with Sony to develop an OLED line but which im sure was mentioned earlier somewhere on EG, but those tv's probably wont be Panasonic branded.
Hopefully the new OLED range will be amazing...still...

No idea what set I'll go for next then, guess I'll have to wait for OLED to become feasibly priced then. -

Registered 9 years agoI have a 50" Samsung C680 plasma, anything displayed on the screen for more than a minute or two will stick around for a while after it's gone. And the gloss screen makes it unwatchable in bright sunlight. I got it because I wanted something bigger than my old 42" 1080p Toshiba 3030D LCD, and I wanted 3D, but apart from the size, 3D and handy DLNA player feature, it's a much worse TV in every way. Is that just it being a shit TV or just my personal tastes not being suited to plasma? -

Registered 6 years agoThinking about whats actually going to happen, Panasonic are the last company to give major backing to Plasma tech. Samsung and LG do produce a few but the majority of their ranges are LCD. So from next year you're looking at LCD at the lower mid range and OLED at the hyper expensive range. I bet LCD prices are going to shoot up if plasma are completely done away with. -

Reading a quick review of that set its noted it has issues with screen retention. It's a mid range Samsung plasma. I wouldn't say its shit but there are much better out there. Personally ive not had issues with retention from 9 years of plasma usage (film and gaming).

Also, plasmas are generally better suited to dim living rooms rather than brightly lit areas.
Review here.

Registered 5 years agoWe've had our Panasonic 37" non-3D and 2.1 sound bar for just over a week now.
Games played so far = Skyrim and The Cave. No Blurays watched yet.
Conclusion so far: most impressive. -
