Basically the black border around the TV screen seems to attract quite a lot of dust, thus they saw fit to provide a cleaning cloth to wipe it down.

I live in a particularly dusty place, so my word should not be taken as gospel.

Not much tho. I've never had them price match a website or haggle down more than 10% - they usually offer a discount on accessories.

Doubt they will drop the 250ish price difference between instore and web prices for LCD TVs.

If Makro are out of stock then mp3players have the same Samsung for 865 including delivery.

Maybe its worth waiting for the new models as some stores are already selling them?

Generally yes. And it looks like they have tightened up the application process.

The 32" Samsung I bought had the integrated digital receiver, does the Makro TV have this?

I just bought a Samsung 32" CRT 100hz 480p for 400 euro from Makro. Very nice tv for the price, and haven't had any problems so far...

Be interesting to see how that Sony compares to the triple chip DLPs - they are 10k to 20k at the moment.

See more info on SXRD in the main guide.

By all accounts the Sony blows most things out of the water, including DPLx3. What is interesting is how competition in this area from Sony might begin to lower prices and possibly raise the profile of high-end projectors among the masses. I reckon I'll be in the market for around 2007. :)

Hey guys, bit of help. I was told that this: http://www.play.com/play247.asp?page=title&r=ELEC&title=747715&p=319&g=405&pa=genbrw 23" Samsung would accept HD signals in order to play Xbox 360 on it in HD, but does not have a DVI or HDMI input that supports HDCP- which would be necessary to play things like PS3 on it and HD-DVD's in the future. However if I just wanted to play 360 on this tv- would this HDTV work? Thanks ever so much guys.

Right I just did a little experiment on my 42" Rear projection TV.

I plugged my pc into the tv firstly through s-video and then component. Both displayed at 1280*768 which is slightly bigger than the minimum HD resoultion.

When I was viewing using s-video there was a certain haze to the picture but when I switched to component it was as a clear as day!

I tried a HDWMV I downloaded from windows HD showcase sight and it looked amazing! (the video was 720)

Does this mean I can play in HD from the xbox 360?

    Im guessing it does :)

    Come and get it cumslingers!

Erm. Yes? What model TV is it? Just because it appeared sharper, does not mean it was in HiDef.

The model number is Sony KP-41DS1U.

The display was at 1280*768 is this not a HD resolution?

Looks like a standard def TV to me. Just because a screen can interpret a HD signal doesn't mean it's actually HD

Aye I know its not a HD TV. I just want to know if the xbox will let me display at the same res.

Cause basically on settings the xbox looks a bit pixilated in RGB.

    Come and get it cumslingers!

just buy it, they are basically all the same so the cheaper option gives no loss of quality just a different front fascia

Anybody any opinions on this one:

Sony BRAVIA KDLV32A12U 32" LCD TV HD Ready (HDMI) with built in Digital Freeview

Finding it hard to find reviews from gamers on any of these TVs.

The Bravias are very nice apparently, but there's far too much of a price jump over something like the Samsung to justify it for me. I mean 1450 is nearly double the price of the 32" Samsung for what is not that much better a TV (IMHO). For the same amount, you could get the 40" version of the Samsung, which really puts it into perspective for me.

If you've got the money to burn then go for it!

Thing is I am reading various reports that some of these Sumsungs are not suitable for gaming because of their response times.

I had a look at the Bravias and Samsungs over the weekend and to be honest the Samsungs look like better value.

I want one that will allow me to watch TV (HT-TV eventually) and play the 360 and PS3.

Yeah, I've seen a couple of posts over on AVForums saying that some people experience motion blur on the Samsungs, but to be honest I think it's more of the vocal minority thing going on, where people have sets that aren't quite right (or don't have them configured correctly); there are far more people responding to them saying that they have no troubles with their sets at all.

There's a couple of the EG forumites who've got the Samsung and they all seem to swear by them, plus I've now finally seen one up and running with CoD2 in PC World and it looked bloody fine to me!

Unless something else comes along to challenge it, that looks and performs as good at the same price point, then I'm still sure that I'll be getting a Samsung early next year.

Experts be damned - if it works for you then that's all that matters isn't it? As long as you didn't get ripped off and it does all you need then that's all you can ask for.

Besides, at the rate that the LCD/Plasma/HDTV market is going to move in the next year, any of us who buy now are going to get made obsolescent pretty damn quickly anyway. You just got to buy if you want to and then just not look too closely at what everyone else gets 6 months later :-D

My missus was convinced the moment she saw one, partly because they just look so nice, but also the amount of space we'll save compared to my bloody huge 32" Toshiba. Once I showed her how much cheaper they were online, she was definitely sorted. Now all we've got to do is find the money :-s
