Balls, balls, balls. This was pretty much my only option for getting content from 'back home' while I'm out of the country. Oh well, looks like I'm buying knock-off blurays from the guy at the end of my street from hereon in. :)

Does Netflix + Unblock-US work for you, Phattso? Should get you access to streamed US+UK (+Scandi) content...

    I'm a grumpy bastard.

It's more an issue with needing VPN to get around the Great Firewall, it just adds all sorts of painful latency and really variable buffering. Also some places sense you're on VPN and just kill the connection (Google included, which makes searching fun: if I do it in China the Great Firewall kills it; if I do it via VPN, Google kills it :)).

Usenet is perfect because I can just open more and more server connections, even if they're all quite low transfer rates, until I've maxxed out my line.

My peak transfer rate is great (faster than the UK, actually) but latency for anything outside of China, especially streaming, is bobbins. I've barely streamed a video in the last 8 months. I'm getting withdrawal from game and movie trailers. ;)

Usenet binaries existed before NZBs. Hopefully now all you NZB newbies are screwed, it can go back to the good old underground days ;)

After fearing the worst, it turns out that sick beard is working perfectly. Using the sick beard index is finding all my shows with no failures so far.

Nzbsrus.com is still active for other specific content. Limited to vip currently though.

Any recommendations for providers? Supernews and Usenetnow are a washout for recent movies.

The usenet providers are being hammered by DMCA takedowns. Giganews has become useless for me now. I'm just trying out Tweaknews.eu

How's Tweaknews working out? I like the look of their dirty-cheap options. Mostly switched to seedboxes now but Usenet is still handy for some stuff.

Now everything has quietened down a bit does anyone have any invites to an indexing site? I've been using NZBClub but every so often it doesn't list something such as community!

Use newnzb.tv for stuff like Community. Same though, I'd really appreciate an invite to a decent indexing site.

    @Kovacs77

nzbx.co has been working for me. They've opened it up for free access and has a good index now.

Since my post I stumbled across a pretty good website - Description_here

Its opening for new registrations again soon. Almost upto the same level of nzb matrix and also has other useful features such as favourite tv shows so you can search for all new releases at the same time.

Thanks. UsenetCrawler is decent and I think it's open access just now. Why are all these new sites insisting on using BitCoins to pay for premium membership, I've yet to work out how to buy them..

Because very few people will process transactions for them bar bit coin, so they dont have a choice.

I'm hopefully about to roll my own newsnab index now that I've migrated the server to a dedicated box in the garage.

Been using GingaDaddy recently. It's sometimes a bit slow but it gets there eventually.

I have been using http://newztown.co.za. It says it is invite only but you can register for a probation account and then you can upgrade to VIP if you want. They also accept Paypal btw. It integrates perfectly with Sickbeard/Sabnzbd/Couchpotato so worth a look. Lots of ex NZBMatrix users there as well...

Usenetcrawler has been shut down now... Manual searches on binsearch from now on it looks like.

Been using a site called NZB Royalty. Bit up it's own arse, but does the job. Cross ref it against Binsearch. Unsubscribed from Astraweb a while back and now just buying blocks from News demon who are pretty good and give you 50 connections. Miss the Matrix though...

NZBid.org. Nicely laid out, but missing the community feedback to warn you off the trojans, password spamers etc.

usenet-crawler is back up. It's really, really ugly but it's got a reasonable amount of stuff listed. There must be a decent alternative to nzbmatrix out there, surely??
