As an Aussie I completely back this up, can't stand drunken Aussies in Europe...the Brits are probably just as bad

I was in Helen, GA this weekend (a bizarre Alpine village in the Deep South - yes, it is as strange as it sounds) and they were celebrating Octoberfest. It was very odd to see loads of people wandering around in Lederhosen and little hats as if it was perfectly normal to do so.

Luckily, I'm no stranger to dressing up.

Maybe a silly question, but is it worth taking my own small tent? Argos are doing a few cheapies at around 10.

Don't go to the Oktoberfest, it's strictly for tourists, the Cannstatter Wasen is superior in every way. Better booze, better people, better oompah music, better sausages, fewer Americans, and infinitely superior dialect. \o/

Yes cubby you may make snide comments about my snobbery.

    say no to Eurogamer sigs

Funny how that worked out :D

Anyways, starting my drive to munich in 5 hours and will probably have 2 hours spare before the champions league game, any good eateries near Bayerns stadium?

No, but I've been to Munich in summer and I really don't know why people would want to go to the Oktober fest instead.

All beerhalls are packed anyways. But when it's not Oktober fest you get to go inside and have a drink and some saurkraut. During OF they are for invites only.

There is plenty of beer and people in the park as well

The town isn't packed with drunk aussies.

    The weather is nice.

@Tonka - yup, you just have to read the back pages of the TNT mag to see the number of "Bus trips to Oktoberfest" for antipodeans.

    That's pretty much Load's scene ;-P

Munich is lovely though. One of my favorite spots in Europe. Been there twice and I'd love to go back.

Yeah, it's a load of rubbish, meeting gorgeous women and exploring Bavaria! I should have cancelled going to my best friend's wedding in Bad Reichenhall, and walked around for a weekend, looking at video games being released next month, while spending the same amount of money in London!

    Cheers guys!
