    47?

Oh christ, even I'd have to think twice.

Mind, if she looks like she does in that photo, I'd be tempted...

Thanks for the information, boo. I'd read about the new album but didn't know the release date was already set. I'm very curious about it. The Red Shoes wasn't a bad album but it wasn't a masterpiece either (far from it) and, well, it's been 12 years*, so I really don't know what to expect from her now.

I think she was a Cornflake girl.

Big fan of Ms Amos so you might be right. :)

Well colour me very intrigued after last night's video premiere on Ch4. Definitely want the album now

Great song (very much back to the style of The Sensual World) and the video's a typical Kate Bush bunch of weirdness...

She's aged OK too, I still would :)

I can't decide on the song - she sounds like she's drunk and slurring some of it.

i thought the slurring was simply imitating the elvis style of singing

I caught the video on channel four, and it was funnier than all of those episodes of Spoons put together.

Still loved the voice, bit worried the lack of 'variety' in the song sounded more like the repetitive "Red Shoes" period than the thrilling "Sensual world".

Hmmm...I thought it was OK considering a 12 year hiatus.

Problem is, I can well see this disappearing under the weight of the absolute DROSS in the charts, and in the industry in general at the mo.

Oh well, I'll be picking up a copy nonetheless.

Didn't see the video - mind you, apart from the bonkers 'Cloudbusting' with Donald Sutherland, none of her video's have particularly grabbed me.

The only thing I've heard so far is the single. First time I heard it, I thought 'It's got no tune!' Second time wasn't any better. Then... gradually... it started working it's way in to my head, aiming directly for the cupboard marked 'Store good songs here'.

She's got enough of a track record for me to warrant buying this without hearing any more of it. It may not be good, but it'll certainly be interesting.

Kate Bush has reminded me about 'So' by Peter Gabriel - I played that to death when it came out. We're long overdue some stuff from him.

He released an album in 2002... after a 10 year gap. Mind you Kate Bush makes him look positively prolific.

Kate Bush sang on "So" didn't she?! And I think Peter Gabriel did backing on a couple of her tracks too.

I liked the tune from the outset. There's something about those bizarre vocalistic synths. It stood out from the wealth of crappy guitar-shoestaring bollocks people are worshipping wholesale at the moment, at least...

My girlf... (Blimey - forgot!) wife, quite often puts the X factor on for a laugh. She can sing better than most of the contestants on the prog (sadly the same cannot be said for me), and it makes her laugh.

Just makes me furious. If these people really had a desire to make a career out of it, then they would have been slogging away for years at it. I can only assume they haven't, as so many of them can't hold a tune, that out in the 'real world' they would have been told in no uncertain terms 'give it a rest'.

As it is, they want to go from nobody to No. 1 in 6 months.

Now if they had a battle of the bands type thing, with groups having to play original material, that I would watch.

Presumably it's a bit too much like hard work to organise, and a modicum of talent would be required, as opposed to 'You'll fit in the clothes that we've got - you'll do.'

Good thing about X Factor is they go from nobody, to no.1, back to nobody all within the space of about 6 months...The last bloke who won it (can't even remember his name) is now working as a residential singer in a crappy wine bar in Fulham :)

You know... it's almost as if the person that wins doesn't really matter, as it's more about the TV program than the artists, and the producers of the show making a fortune out of the phone calls.

    /thinks

    Nah! That would be silly!

Cripes, next you'll be inventing preposterous notions about the fact that the judge's heads are next to the acts' telephone numbers, not the acts themselves.

And that girlband who were voted off - they were dreadful! Sang flat, without any conviction, and were told how wonderful and bright they were by Louie!

How many acts between 'em do you reckon Cowell / Louis have screwed?

All of them, Peej, all of them. And they might have even had intercourse with some of them.

    /badoom tish.

I particularly liked one girlband's comment on Simon's huge Mediterranean villa, "It's like the kind of place we might be able to afford if we get to the latter stages of this competition,"

    Saps!

Decent, but in no way classic PG.

Has anybody here (as in, in this thread, ie. interested in Kate Bush) got Imogen Heap's new album 'Speak For Yourself'?
