I've succumbed to the darkside and purchased a shiny new photo Ipod, nice simple and effective.

The white earphones which are supplied are pretty decent, however for security I'm looking at replacing them with something black. Any recommendations, I've been looking at the Sennheiser MX550's but open to opinion.

I've got those sennheisers that fold up, they're great. Nice bass for a tiny set of headphones like that. Could do better with those Sony earphones that have the rubbet bungs on the end. Not sure of the model, sorry.

I've got these Sony Fontopia ones, and they're great.

Once you go from the standard earphones you get with a pod/walkman/on an aeroplane to these you'll never go back.

Got a pair of the Sony's. Even with one ear canal being consdierably smaller then the other thanks to a childhood plagued by ear aches they are super-comfy and sound brilliant.

The Amazon reviews are hardly glowing though...

Who would you rather trust? Some mindless fools on Amazon, or us lot?

    ....

    Ah.
    It's Amazon, isn't it?

Any reccomendations for some new earphones? My current pair have died, and now I'm looking for some decent replacements. All I'm looking for is good sound quality, or at least as good as can be expected for the amount I'm willing to pay. I'm looking at 10-15, 20 max.

    Suggestions? I know nothing.

Klipsch S3 is probably your best bet at that price.

Oh wait, those are more than I thought they were.

Er...dunno. That's really cheap. I imagine pretty much everything at that price is probably similarly crap (sorry).

@imamazed I'd say also the Klipsche S3 (I have the s4's and they are excellent), or maybe the Sennheiser Cx 200/300.

Yeah, Sennheiser CX300 can be had for about that price. They're ace.

Yeah, once you get into the 30-40 range there's some decent headphones on offer. the CX300s are the standard go to in that bracket (although I prefer the shape of Klipsche).

You can get the new Apple earphones for 25 I guess, but seriously, a fiver more and you're into proper nice headphone territory.

Thanks for the input guys. Those two seem to be more in the 35-40 range than the 15-20 range, I'll have to look around. I don't want to spend too much, because, well, I use my earphones all the time all over the place and they're liable to break so I don't want anything too good.

@imamazed I get your point, but seriously you will get a lot more for your money for 30. My Klipsche s4's had a 2 year guarantee so if the s3's have that you'll be good.

My sennheiser cx300's also lasted a lot of use for several years.

I have to say that most reviews ive seen of the new apple phones say they have among the worst sound quality of any in their price range.

At that price sennheiser and Klipsche are the two brands to go for. (Just get sennheisers from a good store as lots of fakes around)

I'd avoid the sort of cheap headphones they sell in HMV and places, like JVC Marshmallow and such. Horrible things.

Panasonic do some around that price. Probably your best bet. Although I will warn about false economy - you may not want to spend much, but you don't want to spend so little that the thing you get isn't fit for purpose...

They're still FUCKING leaky. The review says their better than the old ones, but not much in my experience.

Don't really understand why Apple don't make some high end headphones. People would lap them up.

I'd recommend v-moda remix remotes, but they are 80 on amazon which is almost twice what I paid for them, and not worth that price.

Not sure where else they can be sourced, iheadphones.co.uk don't have them either (apart from grotty pink ones).

    Quite bassy, but good sound.
