Turkey is at least as good as chicken it's just harder to cook well and you want something better than the cheap supermarket frozen ones.

I like turkey best but I eat it all the time anyway so I've got used to it

I do like chicken for a change though

We've had our tree up over a week already, the wife is very keen to get everything organised early doors

The wife and I are off on our honeymoon over Christmas and New Year this year. Will be weird being somewhere hot and without the rest of my family but really looking forward to it. Something different!

They better have bloody turkey dinner though!
Congrats mate, must have missed the nuptials!

I'm putting off the tree till next weekend, despite an overly excited 10 year old being bombarded with TV ads for CHRISTMAS!!

Did have my first mince pie yesterday though!

Ordered a 3 bird roast: Turkey, duck and pheasant. Last year it didn't turn up so mad dash to Sainsbury on Christmas eve! Fingers crossed for this year...

This morning i opened my PORK CRACKLING ADVENT CALLENDER! \0/ later I'll be drinking mulled wine and making some mulled wine mince pies. Gonna try and get some of the Christmas shopping done online too.

It's beginning to look a lot like fucking xmas!

Isn't there a mince pie rating thread? Or did we just use the old Christmas thread?

Decided against a Turkey and have ordered a cockerel from the butcher. Going cheese shopping next week.

Decorations will be put up today and I'll be proposing in the evening. Bricking It!!

@wobbly_Bob ha, my wife ordered the pork scratching calendar too. I don't really like them (or rather, my teeth don't). Hoping these ones aren't too bad... Not opened yet.

There was a mince pie appreciation thread somewhere.

Mine was 6/10 - needed more Christmas.

As a kid I always believed turkey was the best, and thought it was a posh meat as we only had it on Christmas day.

Over the following forty years it gradually dawned on me that it’s usually dry and tastes like crap. Chicken is far superior, as are several other alternatives.

Turns out many of my friends share this opinion.

I don’t have kids and, as some on here know, I lost a lot of my close family back in 2015.

However, I still love Christmas and am looking forward to celebrating it.

Recent changes to life this year have put a huge grin back on my face, and I’m really quite excited!
Good for you man, glad things are going well!

Good luck. I'm sure it will be fine. Pro tip: make sure you get her good and drunk first :)

Is it the snaffling pig one?! It's good though the cracking is small but tasty. Makes a nice change from chocolate.

We moved into our new house a month ago, and are currently renovating. My wife wants to try to get all walls stripped and painted before we put the decorations up. That'll be New Year's Day at this rate.

I'm not really bothered, and would quite happily just put the tree up now and just do whatever decorating we can before Christmas.

I may sound like a philistine but we often have lamb instead of turkey in our house. We have turkey through out the year often enough.

Cheers, my ole Dark Souls chum. It's early days yet, but suffice it to say that an old friend got in touch and we've been supporting each other through difficult times.

It's nice to have someone around that knows me, understands me, and cheers me up!

Hope all is well with you.

24 days of burgers! I could do that! I did have my eye on a beer advent calendar... Very tempting though! Maybe next year!

    Good to hear!

Things are all good here, other than the usual sick children at this time of year!

Mother in law bought me the Lindt advent calendar. Got two chocolates a day and four on Christmas Eve.

The Mrs only got a bog standard dairy milk

    Oh how I laughed.
