I guess Errol is busy. It's December 1st so we can officially talk about Christmas. Is everyone excited? It'll be my first one where I'll be doing the cooking.

    Getting our tree this weekend!

Means it is also time to start the annual rewatch of all the Harry Potter films.

Also considering how crazy to get with the external Christmas decorations.

It is nice to be in a country that celebrates it and I've definitely grown to like it more due to seeing it more as a family event. I imagine it gets even better when you have kids. If anything I'm looking forward to eating more shit than I usually allow myself.

I get three Christmas dinners / present exchanges this year. One with Wife's family, second with mine, and then third with friends in a big house with friends just before New Year :)

I'm sat in bed with a Yankee candle from my advent calendar beside me burning away and smelling nice. We're going to choose our Christmas tree tomorrow and we will be in our new house by then. We'll have a fire going and will have guests round in our guest annex. Looking forwards to it.

Last year we did the visit santa in lapland thing. Loads of snow and the northern lights. This year it'll be a family one in our first home together.

First Christmas in our first home together.
No turkey for us as the girlfriend doesn't like it, no Christmas cake as she doesn't like that either and no mince pies because... well you can probably guess.

Not really all that bothered about Christmas. Guess its different for those with kids but for me it's nice to have 3 days off. My girlfriend might be getting Christmas Eve off but back in come boxing day ready for the usual sales. Capitalism doesn't have a day off

Probably for the best, isn't it illegal to eat mince pies on Christmas day or something like that?

Turkey's an overrated meat anyway, and IIRC it was bloody Queen Victoria who convinced everyone to order one for Chrimbo day. I'll eat it but only smothered in gravy and if poss. cranberry sauce. If there's only the two of you I'm sure you can agree on a main that you both enjoy.

Yeah, I'm not a turkey fan either. Think we'll do a chicken and that might well be a "fake" chicken as my wife's a lettuce muncher.

I donít like turkey either. Depending on whether my wifeís sister and my sister are coming, that only leaves 4.25 meat eaters on Christmas Day so we have ham.

We tend to have Turkey and ham on the day, and then beef over new year (we get a hamper from the butcher with everything in - 2kg of Turkey, ham and beef, pigs in blankets, stuffing, sausage meat and streaky bacon). Got my in laws, my mum and my niece and great nephew for dinner. Should be a cracker.

Just the old fois gras this year again. No in laws thank fuck so might roast a chicken for the wife and I, and see if the kids want some instead of the usual spaghetti

As a kid I always believed turkey was the best, and thought it was a posh meat as we only had it on Christmas day.

Over the following forty years it gradually dawned on me that itís usually dry and tastes like crap. Chicken is far superior, as are several other alternatives.

Turns out many of my friends share this opinion.

I donít have kids and, as some on here know, I lost a lot of my close family back in 2015.

However, I still love Christmas and am looking forward to celebrating it.

Recent changes to life this year have put a huge grin back on my face, and Iím really quite excited!

The wife and I are off on our honeymoon over Christmas and New Year this year. Will be weird being somewhere hot and without the rest of my family but really looking forward to it. Something different!

They better have bloody turkey dinner though!
