Everything will calm down the second I get in.
At the moment I feel like doing that just to shut everyone the fuck up about it.

According to Bitcoin "legend" Mike Novogratz (billionaire hedge fund manager), Bitcoin is going to hit $40k by end of 2018.

It sounds mental, but that would be a x4 increase over a year. In 2017 we saw it increase x11. Might well be possible. He was also spot on about it hitting $10k by end of 2017.

So I mentioned in the other thread that I was reticent to use an Exchange as...
    1. they may go out of business (however you can move funds to an offline wallet) and
    2. there are fees asociated with them.

Further to that though, what Exchanges are people using?

I'm familiar with the big players but what about other crytpo currency, what would you do if you wanted to invest there?

I used Bitfinex for buying Ripple and IOTA, and used Blockchain.info for buying bitcoin and etherium. I've got my BTC and Ether in my blockchain wallet, but my IOTA and Ripple are still in my exchange wallet on Bitfinex. I need to buy a USB wallet and move everything into that.

Ripple is potentially going to be used for instant global transactions, and IOTA is a currency for the IoT. Both are pretty cheap right now, and I'm hoping that over the next few years I'll just let them sit there and grow.

Tempted by IOTA, just not sure how it'll fit in with the IoT?

@Dr-Strangelove - I use Coinbase (which auto creates you an account on the Gdax exchange - same company). Then you can bypass fees by transferring into the fiat currency wallets (USD/GBP/EUR) of your Coinbase account, then transferring that amount into Gdax and making a LIMIT buy order - 0% fee

@sport So as I have a Coinbase account, I also have one on Gdax? Do I just, sign-in as per usual? If so, that's pretty cool.

yeah, if you're logged into Coinbase, just open another tab on gdax and login there - there might be some setup involved, can't remember the whole process but they are the same company and transferring funds between them is instant.

Might want to look at Monero too.

They can be mined via Javascript apparently, so there is huge potential there (for example, a new way for site owners to earn money from their websites without obtrusive adverts).

BTC at $11.2k, less that 24 hours after hitting $10k . I wonder if it will hit $40k before the end of 2017, never mind 2018. Some experts think it can get as high as $100k next year.

I was totally joking when I said that, at this rate it'll be $15k in a day or two.

I'm sure you're right, or at least a big correction.

That said, how do people define the "bubble popping" exactly? They go from 11k to 0? They dip to 50% value?

This is an outrage (paging Tony Harrison)! It's cunts using that that are slowing down the internet for everyone these days - they can fuck right off if they're burning my electricity and slowing down my computer so they can make money.

If you thought flash adverts were bad, this is way worse.

Great opportunity to get in, but I don't think the dip is quite over. Managed to sell a portion yesterday and buy back in at quite a lower price. Got more stock without extra funds.

    Yeah, I don't think it's over. Some say it'll drop to $7k (even $5k).

The drop has been sparked by the US government demanding account info from coinbase. I'd say it's a temporary dip, unless thousands of bitcoin users are laundering money.

Oh, no doubt it has it's nefarious uses ( silk road etc), but I'm not sure this year's huge spike is due to that. Lots of speculation as to why it's gone up but none were due to criminal activities (at least, not proven yet).

No I mean large scale tax evasion. I don't mean dudes (ahem) buying a few bits and bobs here and there on DNMs. I mean actual uncountable volumes of business bypassing normal visible taxable channels to get their legitimately earned money out of the country without paying tax
