    Thread of the year.

That may be the best picture yet as well.

I'd like to see a Decks self-portrait please.

I've always imagined Decks looking like Spider Jerusalem from Transmetropolitan.

I didn't think Stefansen used more than one or two fingers at a time when composing his opusen, having listened to one or two. Actually, if he only had the two fingers, one on each hand that might explain quite a lot.

Surely the next step for Decks's art must be to step beyond the confines of the forum users. I am trying to picture what Edwin Evans-Thirlwell would look like. Some kind of carefully-waxed penis-moustache motif is the best my rather limited imagination can conjure.

Nothing I ever draw could be as funny as that bean head picture we found of him.

His real head was pretty much already a caricature of itself

@Decks He's the EG pet hipster who's just today published a piece making the following claim about Mass Effect:

"It's also a game whose writing and levelling mechanisms are riddled with neoliberal and colonial presumptions".
That's actually fairly mild by his standards. I am actually starting to wonder if he is a parody sock-puppet.

It’s like they gave Mongo a job as a writer.

Not sure what the fuck they’re playing at. The last Switch review before Xenoblade was Odyssey. In that time we’ve seen Resident Evil, Doom, Skyrim, countless indies.

I go to Nintendolife more these days. Why can’t they just review some games instead of commissioning some ballbag to talk the kind of shit that would make you run screaming from the kitchen at a house party?

Some people are really good at these articles - Simon Parkin was legend. This bloke is not.

Completely ignored that article before but tried to give it a read after the mentions in this thread. Fucking hell, that's new heights of utter pretentious twaddle from Edwin Fortesque-Smyth.

He's pretty much Student Grant from Viz.

I wish they still had Rab Florence writing for them, his columns were ace.

@Rogueywon Do you prefer the "urrp urrrp videogames!" teenage-blog dribblings of Ellie Gibson instead?

I think Edwin is the best writer on the site.

Give it four days and he'll probably say he's a terrible writer.

I like Edwin's articles too. Probably not much of a surprise that, but there we go. It's good to have thoughtful, deep-dives into underlying themes of games. It often means I get to look at them in ways I haven't previously considered, which is something Edwin's pieces often bring.

He's not the best writer on the site though, that's clearly Donlan.

If one of those ways is looking at them through the lens that is Edwin's sphincter then I'm out.

I find myself located in front of my Logitech keyboard, recalling the time I read the opening paragraph of the Mass Effect article by Edwin Evans-Thirlwell. Electrical signals from my brain are transferred effortlessly to my fingers, located at the ends of my hands. My fingers move, pressing keys and then releasing keys, making what were only thoughts second ago appear as words in your eyes. An alien appearing on this planet, assuming they could breathe the air and their body structure would cope with the local gravity, may gaze at the strange symbols and wonder what they mean. Eurogamer readers, with the benefit of speaking English, will make light work of following and understanding these printed hieroglyphs. They use a process similar to mine, although this time it is reversed and uses their eyes, conveniently located in their heads, instead of my fingers, conveniently not located in their heads. The patterns metamorphosise, turning them into ideas in their heads that, just moments ago, were thoughts in my head.
