    So far this year:

    Bought: 1
    Completed: 3
    Played: 4 (+1 demo)
% of bought games completed: 100%
% of played games completed: 75%

The 4th game is Mario Odyssey and I have finished the story but I am still collecting Moons. So not counting it as finished yet. (On ~680 Moons).

    0/10

However. In December I bought Prey on eBay which never arrived. I'm still chasing it up. If I end up getting a refund and buying it again it's my first, but if it eventually shows it doesn't count. Sound fair?

@Switch024 I will update but with MonHun and SoT, DBFZ and Dissidia 5 of them are open ended games with no 'completion'

0/10, but then it's only 11 days into the year, so that's hardly impressive.

Finished my first game of the year last night (AC Origins). This time last year I think I'd finished 6, though they were much smaller.
I think I'm going to start Hob tonight and actually start working through my immense backlog.

First game purchase will likely be the SotC remake, but maybe I'll hold off for a bit and only pick up games at discount... Maybe.

I wonder if I could away with getting Darkest Dungeon for the Switch without counting it, a game that is on my PC backlog already, and that I'd be able to dedicate more time to on the Switch. Now wouldn't THAT be in the spirit of the thread, huh, Phattso?

    0/10 also

Having said that, this was never the danger time for me, am deep into xenoblade 2 and don't feel any need to play anything else right now.

Can I still sign up for this?

I was already limiting my gaming budget for years, but somehow I still ended up with more games than I actually play (I blame sales).

So for this year my plan is to first work on my backlog and not buy new games in a genre that I already own and haven't finished yet.

I bought one game already this year, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (after finishing the first on 3DS during the holidays - so I was out of JRPGs to play ;)). However it is still sealed because I didn't have time to try it out :( (so there's one reason why I'm joining this...)

I've got most genres covered in my backlog, so technically there should be no need to buy anything this year, let alone 9 games (I keep telling myself ;) )

I'm counting any Switch double dips as a purchase.

If this is true I imagine this thread will be filled with 'Do remasters count as purchases?'

rumour: Dark Souls Remastered to be announced today (PS4/XB1\PC\Switch)

I'm going to be renewing my xbox live sub at the end of the month. I'm including that as one of my purchases (and also EA Access in August), but not the individual games that they give away over the course of the year.

Likewise. They all take away from the time I can spend with other games and they reduce my money and increase my backlog, so they count.

I'm mostly wanting to stop the stupid impulse buys I made and later regretted and the feeling that I've got to stop playing one game (e.g. Skyrim) as I've another one (XC2). I've barely looked at Doom so I've no reason at all to buy more.

    /still want more.

Still at zero game purchases. I'm enjoying Xenoblade Chronicles 2 post game stuff and have Fire Emblem Warriors untouched from a Black Friday offer. I reckon that should keep me going until March.

I did buy a neon yellow joycon strap today though. Ł2.99 at Game of all places. I fancied getting one as I've been playing with split joycon since Mario Odyssey and want to mix up my colours. :)

    @GuybrushThreepwood

I'm counting them as I want to choose each and every game carefully and make the most of every purchase. No gaming the system for me.

That makes a lot of sense.

I'm not counting either, personally, as I don't buy the subs for the games and the games are free so whatever I get is essentially just backlog whenever I choose to play them.
I need to buy a headset for my xbox in order to play games with friends, which is where the subscriptions fall too.

I am going to count the new games I download from PSN this year, but so far the vast majority I've just "purchased" and never touched, so can't see me playing and actually downloading more than 1 or 2 this year anyway. Unless they start mining their better catalogue of games.

I feel like I've weathered the hype storm of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 as I've now lost interest in getting/playing it. It looks like a fine game but I own too many RPGs I'd rather play.

Just need to do that with most of the other borderline purchases due this year.

Fuck. FUCK. DARK SOULS REMASTERED ON SWITCH.

That brings me to 9 I'm buying this year. I have one more slot to use on a title.

Things are not looking good. Especially as 4 of those are re-releases/remasters!

I've not played any Dark Souls but I'm not sure I want to start. I have Nioh in my backlog already and I think I'm more temped by The Surge.

I'll get Dark Souls remaster on Switch if there's console parity, PS4 if there isn't, but no versions if there isn't a performance boost (or it's a bad remaster for other reasons).

Could do without buying the game again but I don't like playing controller games on PC so I think I'd get mileage out of it.

"I've got the regurgitated Japanese themed one with more action mechanics, and the scifi version which is very different aside from one or two homages, why would I want to play the game that kicked off the trend in the first place?"
    - Derblington, 2018

Not including Demons Souls because lets be honest, Dark is the real kick off point for most people
