Sometimes this game drives me up the wall. My characters are level 43 at the start of chapter 5. I get attacked by a lvl 38 enemy called jimmy and get destroyed 3 times in a row. I had been doing 3 rotation bursts too netting 150k damage but that doeesnt tiggle hm.

Sounds like a unique enemy. They're usually way tougher than other enemies of a similar level.

Itís more frustrating running through areas where there are one or two high level flying mobs that immediately join fights when youíre decking their mates.

Not to mention a side quest where youíre suddenly tasked with taking down a level 91 saurus! (Iím ~ Lvl 50)
I mean the footprints were a bit of a giveaway what was coming, but still...

If you continue that quest you do something that reduces the Saurus to about level 30 odd. Hang in combat for a bit, decide to run, and then continue.

    Sort of dog thing?

He's an arsehole. His enrage blocks healing so even when you're quite stronk he can have you. I haven't gone back and had a go for a while, but he's still up in my game.

Build up orbs and chain attack his ass when he gets under half.

I'm still level 66, but I did successfully down a level 82 dinosaur bird, was OK as long as Tora held its aggro.

Cheers for the pointers. Am now 12 hrs in and on chapter 3. Still not managed to do a complete blade combo but have got very close and just had the bar time out just before having a stage 3 special ready to go.

Have to admit I'm hooked into the story now!

Though I do find it jarring when I destroy a boss only to get a cutscene that suggests beating them is impossible and everyone had a real tough time in the prior battle...

Yea I've been finding that weird about the cut scenes as well. Apart from that they are brilliantly done, some great fight sequences.

Regarding the Blade Combos... you can extend the timer if you get into a Driver Combo (Break, Topple, Launch, Smash).

Though this might not be available until Chapter 3. I forget

I was hoping this game would have combat like FinalFantasy
Seems a bit simple so far ( chapter 1)

Does the combat get more interesting. Seems like itís all automatic and a bit removed from the user and all to easy so far

Safe to say, if you like complex combat systems, this is the game for you. The first chapter hasn't even begun to show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.

@bluenose the combat is immense in this, it is one of the best things about the game.

Finished, shame itís so derivative and tropey when the original was such a work of genius. At least itís better than X.

Enjoying the game overall and the story and combat is way more engaging than the last too Xenos. The world design isn't a patch on either though.

Take all the other stuff that drops to the trade station and trade it in. Continuing to do so will also increase the development level of the area and that will make cylinders cheaper.

Once you can use gold cylinders and sell that loot the game will piss money at you.

From what I've seen though the trading stations are only offering rubbish like 300g for a set of collectables. I can't remember how much a cylinder is but I'm salvaging and not getting enough to make a set, then when I do get enough for a set I'm getting pennies back?

You buy a few, like 10 or so, and use them all. That should get you some of the better bundles. You don't want to use one and try to trade immediately, you want to play the numbers so that you have a better chance of getting the better bundles.

The best bundles in many continents give like 30K+ per bundle.

What do you need money for anyway? If there's no pressing need just wait until you hit Mor Ardain and can get gold cylinders. 10 of those can earn you like 500K.

I am currently farming mor Ardain for cores as have very few rare blades. In an hour of play I got 20 common and 6 rare cores and from that rex got Perceval and Nia got Godfrey. I managed to male a profit of about 30k from 20 silver cannisters and am rank 3 in mor Ardain now so may by a few golds.

I'm in Mor Adain now so I might start buying silvers and salvaging. Is there much, or any, difference between the salvaging spots in Mor Adain?

The main reason I'm after money is to keep buying from shops to try and get deeds, to get those bonuses. Only got two deeds at the moment, and one of those was a tutorial gimme anyway.

On another note, and this will be a super noob question, but are you supposed to stop the decreasing circle in the outer circle or inner circle for best results? For some reason I've been going for the outer circle and it's been working fine but I'm wondering if I've been doing it wrong. I suspect I have.

@Dazimus The QTEs are always stop the circle in the brightest part for best success. For salvaging it's the inner circle.

It also helps to have some blades with Salvaging Mastery available. Commons can get it, and a couple of rares have it too.

@Dazimus might be a while before you can finish shops as moat have inventory that requires 5 star affinity with a location and also which require specific merc missions

Don't forget you only need one of each shop item to get the deed, unlike me who thought at first you need to max out everything...

oh and I don't think salvaging spots make any difference from one to the next, I just used the one near the bottom of the Alba Cavanich elevator. Selling bundles is probably the quickest way to increase development level too.

Yeah, most of the 3-5* inventory expansions require a merc mission to complete, and they also require you to have opened one of the other continents.

You can't really get all the shop inventories until around chapter 6.

Reloading your clear file brings you back before the final boss with a medal next to your playtime.

That's best on the 5th character IIRC. One of the most powerful blades full stop... if you do the affinity tree, which thankfully isn't hard.
