    Yes I would definitely put it closer to FIFA 16 than anything else. But it's still a great game of FIFA on a handheld console, which is the reason I love it. But if I'm in front of my own TV, I would put on the XO version every time. But if I'm sat on the loo for an hour ....

    Hey - 16 was a great FIFA.

    Explains why I'm not feeling much of a difference

    The switch version reminds me of when fifa really was great on the last generation consoles. Just a fun pick up and play. I haven't noticed too much bullshit scripting either.

    I can't compare it to any other versions but after 20 odd games on the Switch in single player mode I'm enjoying it a lot. Goals seem to be quite varied and it's generally a fun and entertaining football game. It looks good and handles nicely in handheld mode.

    As I can't compare it to other football games I can't really find anything to a complain
    about in the single player game. I have no interest in playing online.I like the career mode and FUT seems like it might be interesting although I'm not sure I can be bothered with all the card faff. It's certainly not a half assed effort from EA.

    On the other hand as I'm not a massive football fan, I'm probably not bothered about a lot of stuff that hardcore fans care about. I can see myself sticking with this version for a few years. The pick up and play anywhere nature of it is great.

    @THFourteen Ha, just bought some Bran Flakes only yesterday.
    But isn't that what the Switch is really for? , the loo and the train ?

    I've noticed you on a couple of the leaderboards, somehow I had never twigged that your Ninty username is rice_swich :)

    I haven't played 'the other 18' but I actually prefer this Switch version to FIFA 17. Just feels more fun to play, although I am very much a casual.

    @neems

    Yeah, the pre-match mini games are a nice touch. I'm not entirely sure about the controls beyond the very vrty basics so I'm also very much a casual player. My approach when defending is to hold down b, sprint a bit and muscle into the attackers.

    As for shooting I miss almost all of my 1v 1 shots due to forgetting that it takes time to take the shot. I need to check out finess shots. I've put the game onto slow speed as I felt the default is a touch fast. I guess you could say the Switch version is for folk who like football games more than real football.

    I wish they’d price it accordingly, about 50p then.

    Anyone suggest a reason why my nationality is showing as American on the training leaderboards before matches? On the Switch that is.

    Anyone play FUT?

    If you're looking for a cheap striker to have you can't go wrong with Belotti. Great header, fast, strong and 5 star week foot.

    Just read the review, and actually they make some fair points.

    Seems rather harsh to me. For me it's a 'recommended' but then I only care about single player.

    I'm not sure I can take something that rates something 5/10 as mediocre.

    To be fair they gave the ps4 version 7/10 so on that basis I suppose it makes sense.

    Aren't you not a football game fan generally tho?

    What they are saying seems to be that the game engine is fine but the rest of the game could use some work in comparison to other versions of FIFA, especially single player when you have no internet.

    Seems fair to me as i'd play mostly on my commute and all i'd be able to do would be career mode which gets boring quickly.

    @THFourteen

    I'm a very casual football fan. I suppose I'm only thinking about how it plays on the pitch. The rest is just window dressing as far as I'm concerned.

    The latest update has totally changed the game online! Defending is near impossible just had a game and I lost 5-6,so shit that you can see who your opponent is controlling. If it don't get fixed soon gonna trade it in for pes which imo is a better footy game anyway but fancied a change this year and was enjoying it till the latest patch. Seriously can't believe how easy it is to fuck games up these days with patches.

    I lose 1-3 players to injury every bloody match in FUT. Anyway to counteract this aside from splurging on healing items? It's putting me off it completely.

    Are you keeping the fitness of the players up? If you go into a game around the 80 mark you're guaranteed an injury in by the 60th min.

    And you may be unlucky and have really injury prone players. Some have it as a trait.

    Thanks, I'll keep an eye on that and try rotate more often to keep them fit.

    I have two squads that I alternate between every match. Use squad one with squad two as subs, and vice versa. You’ll never have any fitness problems again!

    Been playing this The Journey mode, finding it actually quite compelling, I think mostly because of how much of a cunt I find the main character so have enjoyed watching his career go down the pan.

    Of course it'll all turn around but still, what a cunt!

    So having played FIFA with manual through balls and lofted through balls for 10 years I've had to turn them back to assisted in this version. They are utterly broken - underpowered and to power them to something resembling useful takes too much time and you'll lose the ball. Very frustrating.

    @binky I found this too but found having to switch between normal through ball and r1 through ball (which basically plays it down the middle) to be even more frustrating. Plus it feels like cheating and limits your creativity imo.

    I have switched back to manual and I play better. r1 ground pass seems to work quite well. But I agree - they are broken. Havnt played Fifa since 16 and it's ok, but generally feels a bit baggy and sluggish compared to PES.
