I am pretty sure this has been asked before but I am struggling to find any posts - I know both have a huge learning curve but looking at getting in to a really cool MOBA I have a lot more free time than I used to and want something to play a long side single player games.

Both are free, download them and play them and stick to the one you prefer.

Neither are worth a shit in my books, but they're popular with the children.

This new Alt Blize movement is a bad thing.

LOL is more straightforward with emphasis on skillshots. Dota2 has more complicated game mechanics. Pick which you prefer.

There was a fellow who used to post here who had the exact same thread creation style you do

"Should I use Colgate whitening or Colgate total?"

    LOL is usually funnier.

Thank you, I'll be here all week. Don't forget to try the chicken.

LoL is more beginner friendly... but expect hate once you start real online ranked battles (same in DOTA ofc),.

I prefer Dota's model: completely free, you get all heroes and only pay for cosmetics/optional extras. With LOL you have to buy heroes although there is a free rotation. I would advise picking the one you can interest your friends in. You will probably build up a group of people to play with regardless, but getting started with someone else is always easier.

I played both for a while but I prefer Heroes of the Storm.

Quicker games and to me feels much more team based.

Personally I'd go with DotA, purely because LoL looks like someone ate a bunch of rainbow popcorn then threw up over a monitor.

That sort of language towards other forum members is completely unacceptable.

DOTA you can lose a lot of time to but the layers in the game make it very compelling.

Never played LOL though, Heroes of the Storm is 1 dimensional to me but only played about 10 games.

I played both LOL, and DOTA. I prefer LOL. You'd learn how to timing your skills, and also to dodge enemies'. Just try both though, and see for yourself.
