I've played about 3 hours of Secret of Mana and I'm surprised how tough it is. I frequently get stun locked to death by multiple enemies. I've been making use of the rather excellent rewind feature which has reduced frustration somewhat. It's amazing how little is explained in the game too.
Don't forget this is back in the days of manuals, I can't recall for certain but it's exceptionally likely this would have been a chunky one as RPG ones were back then. There's a link in here for the manuals a few pages back now.

    @ChiefGB

I posted that link, mate. I have the Secret of Mana manual on my tablet.

The music is just phenomenal. The gameplay is fairly straightforward and the art is nice but the music is unforgettable. There are so many memorable tunes.

Playing Zelda and it's been that longI can barely remember anything about it.

I *think* I've grabbed most of what I can get from Kakariko Village... a couple of bottles, bug net and pieces of heart.

Can you find pieces of heart in the dungeons? I've just done the first and now I'm aimlessly wandering around looking for this tome to translate some old signage.

Only pieces of heart I can recall in dungeons is the ones you get on defeating the boss of each.

I'm playing thought it 20 years on after playing it on the SNES and it's actually a bit easier (and shorter) than I remember. Although it can be tricky at the start. Remember to always wait until your at 100% before attacking (in some ways it gives it a turn based feel to combat) but if you have your allies you can always attack quicker to stun them while the allies do the damage. This is usual on enemies that spawn other enemies.

Also make sure you level up your magic (it'll increase quicker if you are in a combat area not a town). Magic is essential for bosses esp the first fire gigas.

Oh and make sure you swap weapons between characters so they all level up in them.

For anyone using NES games alongside SNES, there's now an option to dual-boot and toggle between the two emulators:

Here in the Czech Republic, all (and I mean all) retailers added 40% to the price. I still paid. I don't regret it as such (after all, it's a great bit of kit and I wouldn't have complained if that was the real RRP), but I am annoyed, and a bit puzzled as to how such behaviour can be legal.
Whereas here in Poland it's almost double the price - 600 versus the allegedly correct 330, as converted from 70 pounds. Regular retailers, too, not internet scalpers.

    I'm surprised ebay allows:
Super Nintendo SNES Mini Classic Modded / Hacked with Additional 200+ Games

Presumably the additional 200+ games are copyright protected ?

Yeah prime doesn't deliver to me either....

Lame. Knew they'd be difficult but didn't realise they would be this difficult.

Got mine last night. Lovely piece of kit.

Edit: who wants to buy it off me for 200 quid? I heard the machine is so rare that even some senior marketing execs who work at NINTENDO can’t even get their hands on one

You have to wonder why ebay don't do something about listings like that (other than the £20 fees for every sale). The seller has put their name and address on a listing that states that they're filthy pirate hackers selling roms for profits.

Same as the ticket biz for concerts, innit. They've got the money and the higher the item price, the more the fee so they've got their money 'n all.

Except with concert tickets, you don't have the likes of amazon silently switching to third party sellers when stock runs dry. You usually have to go to some tout's website.

@ChiefGB Don't you get a whole piece of heart for defeating each boss, and there are quarters of hearts in some chests around the dungeons. Although I don't know if that holds for LTTP - I think I only completed the first mini dungeon when I had it on GBA; I'm mainly going by OoT and later. If it's like the latter there should be compasses around which show unopened crates.

You do get a heart per boss. The map in lttp is pretty poor so it's hard to make much out beyond the room layouts.

Ouch. However you can put dozens of extra games on it with a simple hack.

That's what's making me feel I'm not getting completely ripped off.

That said, Nintendo has no presence here in Poland and the market seems to have settled on this price, with some places (all legitimate retailers, mind) asking as much as the equivalent of 145 pounds for the privilege. And you thought you people had it bad with the Brexit. ;-) If you factor in the average salary here... you get the picture.

Yeah I'm close enough to the border in the south to have frequent trips north be a thing. Plus one of my besties is from the north and she frequently visits the folks. Stressful times.

In thread-related news, I am stunned to say Gamestop here are sticking with RRP. Practically unheard of for them
