Also tried the FIFA 18 demo (whilst I wait for the postie to deliver PES!).|
There are some things I like about it : as a defender, standing off an attacker to close them out feels quite good. I also really like the crowd animations, especially when a goal is scored and they all rush to the front of the stand - very nice!
PES is just miles ahead on the pitch though.....and I'm basing that off LAST years version. It just feel more......natural. FIFA 18 has a very stiff, robotic feel to it which doesn't compare favourably at all.
I can understand people debating which game has the better overall package (online, career, graphics, licenses, Ultimate Team, etc) but there really is no debate which game plays better on the pitch......absolutely zero.

The button lag and responsiveness in FIFA gets to me as well. Feel like I could go make a cup of tea in the time it takes my button press to register at times.
wasn't available at all (including the Live Update)... so all players are at the club they were at the end of last season... I imagine tomorrow the update will be released or very soon after at least
also the splash and videos all feature MSN loads even though Neymar has left... don't know if they'll patch that at all...
all the above aside, plays beautifully... the tactical options are nice n vast
only thing I'm not sure of is free kicks (no low n hard driven shots seem to be possibke now...) and corners....but it'll come
@Monsieur_Blade you probably have it now
to be fair they have never let me down
Been at it a few hours now.
Not updated yet because the live service isn't up yet, so transfers aren't up to date. Also waiting for PES world to release their Option File before really getting into it.
Done a few friendlies and it's still sublime. Similar to last years version (which isn't a bad thing) but with some good refinements : short passing feels more natural, knocking a long pass is easier and the keeper animations have been massively improved.
Feels more "evolution than revolution" but still just buttery gorgeousness.....

I've always managed to find some gems starting with the original players. Castollo and Eddington spring to mind.
Not really doing themselves any favours offering a Barcelona based preorder bonus are they.
Why pick the cuntiest team in the world
Barcelona based? Its Usain Bolt and a 75+ agent on ps4 I think. Haven't redeemed my code yet.
Dunno but i can pay £65 to "Pre-Purchase Pro Evolution Soccer 2018 FC Barcelona Edition"

Only managed a couple of friendlies tonight but it feels really good so far. I played the Sheffield derby on regular difficulty and managed a 2-2 draw after being behind twice. Not happy with them making the mighty Blades only 1.5 star rated though!
I'm def downloading the option file from PES World asap as I think the kits are even worse than usual! You think they'd at least make an effort to make Sheffield Utd's home strip red and white stripes but it looks truly awful. And Man U's is even worse!
Just feeding the baby then gonna get two games in
Just downloaded mine. Staying up for a couple of games and will look into the option file stuff on PC.
Can confirm PC version looks and plays fantastically. Now for the patches...
Got it finally,nNow to wait for updates and import files before I can dive in proper. If anyone sees a good import file, feel free to drop a link in the thread would you?

I'm importing a v0.1 PS4 file into the Pc version at the minute. Will report when it's done
So on Pc, player data import of the ps4 file didn't work (could be a number of reasons) but kits and logos did. Will get some screenshots up in a bit.
Edit: Some screenshots for you all.
Should note half of these are from nvidia Ansel and the other half from Steam so image quality is a tad all over the place. Imgur has resized them as well so if they don't look super sharp thats probably why

Played 3 myclub matches. First thoughts:
1. Smooth and slick: The on-pitch graphics and in-game atmosphere are great. Would say the game is smoother than 17.
2. Much slower pace: The game has definitely slowed from PES2017 - most noticeable in the passing...opening up a team with a quick fire tiki-taka move back to front is off the table. Means a bit more thought needs to go into passing. Not sure if I prefer that yet. Also seemingly nerfed is the long chipped through ball from defense to attack...perhaps that's not such a bad thing...no cheap through balls.
3. Momentum and inertia matters more: I'm a relentless high pressure kind of player and my butt has been punished in this game for doing that. Basically if you go charging after every ball and miss, players do not turn on a sixpence to get back into defense. Split second inertia gives the attacking team an advantage if they can evade your press. Something I need to get used to. Given slower pace of game, dribbling is more important than before.
4. No guide line on set pieces: Hmm, not sure about this one...but something to get used to.
5. Online worked seamlessly straight away - no juddery games on day 1 at least.
Overall - it looks similar to 17, but plays very differently. We will need to relearn attacking and defensive play...I like it, need to spend some time with it.
Okay time to go to bed!
Live service still not up on PS4.......weird.

I normally don't mind Fifa but after playing the demo it really is night and day this year. Fifa feels fucking weird. The ball physics seem really simplistic and the animation system is weird, like it keeps speeding up and slowing down or something. Even the graphics are noticeable worse than PES. I do quite like the dribbling though.
Picking this up today, when's the kits patch thing due?

Can anyone confirm that all that AI teams play the same this year by using the long ball out to the wings?
downloaded it last night after i came home from the pub, but kept passing out on the sofa and i was 3-0 down to liverpool when i came round at half time so cant really tell you much about it :-\
seems realistic from that point i guess.
working today so will have to wait till later (although i AM wfh )
Waiting on the servers to be up on Steam (apparently console is live) to get some updated teams.
Not noticed the AI playing the same tactics so far. Game against Barca and they were pinging the ball about, game against 'East Sussex' and they were firing it long to Glenn Murray and getting him to hold the ball up for other players.
Servers? I was playing it last night?

@THFourteen just getting connection errors through Steam since last night. No live updates, no online play etc.
PS4 Live Service is up - squads updated and ready to go.
Unfortunately, Pes World haven't got the Option File up yet..........quite frustrating actually!
Lazy arse cunts, what have they been doing all night
