Well I certainly got my money's worth with the Wii U version. Just checked the logbook out of curiosity. 622:05 hours. Crikey.

Yes it's a shame there's no discount for Wii U owners but like Captain_Toad says, Nintendo absolutely know I'm going to be buying it again.

@rice_sandwich unless you want to play with everyone who is playing the Switch version it would seem.

Wii U Mk8 owners are going to see a decreasing player pool on top of the inevitable drop off over time.

They could easily check, I mean the wiiu is an online console. You've got accounts on both consoles.

I don't think I finished a single championship last time around (sticking mainly to time trial) and I didn't buy any dlc so it's almost a new game to me.

    @Toaster05

That's true. I suppose that's why we have yearly versions of fifa and pes which don't change all that much feature wise.

I've double dipped. Mk8 was the have that convinced me to buy a Wii U, it's a compelling reason to own a Switch.

I would think Nintendo would have had some sort of discount for wii u owners.

Why? There aren't discounts on Xbox One/PS4 remasters/definitive editions for previous X360/PS3 owners.

I don't understand where this notion that Nintendo should have this comes from?

All I need to know is how many copies of this game will Carlos be buying for all his Switches what he owns.

It's amazing how much just being able to play games like Mario Kart in portable mode is such a draw. I love the way it means you don't cannibalise your own play time with two different (and one cut down) versions. Can't wait for this.

It's a bit shit that Nintendo don't offer Wii U digital owners 10 or 20 quid off, something at least.
I'm a twat though so I'll buy it again.

Hopefully the answer is obvious, but can you do two player split screen on one system just with the two Joycons held horizontally, one player each?

Just pulled the trigger on a Neon with Zelda and it should arrive tomorrow. Hoping it's a recent enough batch not to have any Joycon woes.

Because no one bought a wiiu so if you own both that and already have a switch it means you are a pretty hardcore nintendo fan. Also it's not a remaster, it's a re-issue of a game that is not even 3 years old.

@richardiox Yes you can. It'll be fine enough for casual players, but I imagine more enthusiastic players will prefer their own set of Joy Cons or a Pro Controller.

I didn't say it was. It's higher res, fixed issues (framerate and slide boost), all dlc and new content though, so at the very least it's a complete collection/definitive edition, which I covered.
Again, these don't see discounts on other platforms just because you've bought them previously. The mainstream failure of the previous console doesn't mean anything other than it was a mainstream failure.

There's no precedent for this action on the other platforms so I don't know why people think Nintendo *should* offer such a deal, or generally expect one.

Obviously I am going to buy this but I cant help but "harumph" over no special offer for wii u owners who have all the dlc. But they knew I would buy it anyway.

    Harumph.
I'm in the same boat. Bought the lot and still have it... Just no longer have the wii U.

Think I'm buy it (cancelled it once) as it looks so good, but then i worry i never played it on the wii u much. But then I'm playing on the switch more as its so convenient.

You're correct of course. It's more like a 'Game of the year' edition, with added battle arenas.

Mind made up, its a buy. I have been without internet due to a house move but my FTTC goes live on Tuesday. Its obviously fate. I look forward to being spun off the track by you bastids very soon.

Yeah I'll buy it again. I'll probably get uk digital as there isn't much difference between regions if you buy 50 credit from cdkeys with 5% off.

I find the amount of sour grapes in the review's comment section frankly astounding.

Full of spec wankers. Shame, really. Fun games not allowed.

Fuck 'em. The game was the sole reason I bought a Wii U, didn't play the DLC and got it for 35. Stupidly fun, can't wait. Seeing neilka's name up there doesn't surprise me. Admire his unwavering attempts to troll or try to be funny in Nintendo sections. I assume the rest are off for half term.

I wonder what the MK Wii tally would have looked like? Can't justify a Switch in the short term, what with a generous hour or so a week available for gaming. That U backlog will take a good while to whittle down.

I'm not venturing into the comments - is it just people doing the usual "Nintendo release the same game over and over" critique?

That, and people saying a positive review means EG aren't credible, because obviously it's impossible that anyone might enjoy playing it. Impossible!

Some fucker said he wouldn't go near Nintendo as a console needs 5 essential games AT LAUNCH!!

Well, they have no idea what they are missing.

Most developers can be accused of that given the enormous amount of sequels that are released. To be fair they often improve core gameplay but at some point it's a case of diminishing returns. The best argument for the existence of MK8 is that you can play it on the Switch.
